Clothing item. Returning for “doesn’t fit”. The message I received said it is automatically approved, per policy and that I need to issue a refund when the item is received.
Seems pretty straight forward, but do I need to communicate anything to the buyer or do any other thing on my end until the item is received?

No.

Nope. In fact eBay even closes communication with you and the buyer within the return details. You can always just send them a message outside of the return details within eBay messages. But unless there's some sort of emergency (which I can't think of any) there's really nothing you need to tell them.
