Why can't eBay list estimated fees just prior to a listing so the seller can see projected costs? I've been selling on eBay for years but recently have incurred costs for extra items that I was unaware of e.g. "Advanced Listing Upgrade Fees".
I thought I would make this suggestion to eBay but they will not accept suggestions from members. Really?

You can see the fees a listing will incur prior to launching. Look on the bottom of the listing form.

Advanced listing upgrade costs are always shown to me before listing.

Using a reserve is expensive it is best to just start you auction at your minimum price and then there is no fee.

Good suggestion. So good they already do it.

As noted in the above posts, the listing upgrade fees are shown on the listing form, before the listing goes live. The only additional fee not shown there would be the final value fee, which is a percentage of the buyer's total payment (including shipping and handling). You can see the rates for all these fees here:
Fees for sellers who don't have a Store: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html
Fees for Store subscribers: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/storefees.html

As far as i know, ebay accepts ALL suggestions from ALL members. They just may not act on it.
Reminds me of a recent car dealer ad i saw on tv. "We accept ALL applications!" (They just may not approve them.)

lolyes a more truthful ad would read:
"We Accept ALL Applications! Many will go in the trash but we accept them all."
An even less upfront ad I usually see reads:
Nobody turned down regardless of credit!
What they don't tell you is, "We absolutely don't turn you down,
our credit company who issues these loans however is another story"

That is a mischaracterization of the "unsolicited ideas" policy.
That policy states that suggestions are accepted, just that you will not get compensated for your idea:
"If a member sends us an unsolicited suggestion, idea, proposal or other material (collectively, the “Submission”), eBay will consider the Submission to be non-confidential and non-proprietary. eBay shall have no obligations concerning the Submission, contractual or otherwise (including but not limited to an obligation to keep the Submission confidential), and shall not be liable for any use or disclosure of any Submission. eBay shall be entitled to unrestricted use of the Submission for any purpose whatsoever, commercial or otherwise, without compensation to the member."
