I sent a package to a buyer via priority on 2/22/21 using the ebay label system and the package hasn't shown any actual movement since 2/23/21. I'm going to file an insurance claim with USPS on their site but they're asking for the actual amount I paid for insurance. Since the shipping cost through ebay already includes up to $100 coverage should I just enter $0.00 or should I enter the total amount ebay charged me for shipping? Also can I add the shipping fee to the items value in the claim since the package was lost? I appreciate help from anyone. Thanks.

I entered $0.00 and it accepted the claim.
Did you already request for a search?
I had request the search for seven days before it would let me make the Insurance Claim.

Have you tried USPS's lost package division? I've had a lot of success with it in the past.

I think the 'actual amount you paid for insurance' is the amount of the sale. If you enter $0, won't your payout be $0?

If it is priority mail it includes insurance up to $100. Since you did not pay for the insurance you would enter $0. Usually you have to wait 15 days to file a claim on priority mail, but can start a help request form or missing mail search before then.
Whenever filing a claim, make sure to include the amount paid for the shipping label if your listing has free shipping. In my experience they will cover the item and shipping if the amount is over $100 total.

Thanks for all the replies. I did initiate a search through USPS customer service but never heard back. Fortunately after 2.5 weeks of no activity, the package just showed up in tracking again and is out for delivery. Guess you can never underestimate the post office on how long priority mail should take....just wish their poor tracking was better....
