File a Complaint with the BBB against FedEx.

I have read so many posts about people having problems with FedEx and not getting any results just like me. Lost / Damaged packages / Overcharges. I have filed claims and they did not even respond with no help from eBay. When I filed a complaint with BBB they did respond. But to tell you the truth it did not help as they did nothing. But still it is important that people fill a complaint against them. They do not want to have there membership for the BBB put in jeopardy. It is easier than trying to get them or eBay to act. Also there is a section to leave feedback. USE IT. Watch them jump when you leave a comment.

The BBB? Really? I didn't think anyone really paid attention to them anymore, with the advent of the internet--what with Google reviews, Yelp reviews, Yellow Pages reviews, Yahoo reviews, et al. It would never occur to me (anymore) to check with the BBB like it might have thirty years ago. And, since they charge businesses for membership, it seems a little like the fox watching the henhouse to me. This article is a case in point:

http://money.cnn.com/2015/09/30/news/better-business-bureau/

Here's an interesting article from a business's perspective:

https://www.blogmarketingacademy.com/better-business-bureau/

And, while they can act as a mediator, they certainly don't have any authority to force a settlement in any dispute or force their members to do anything. Granted, it may (or may not) reduce the business's rating, but I'm sure they can take a couple of hits over the long haul and still survive. Or they can just drop their membership, so the BBB has no info about them. Here's another good example of how effective the rating system is.

"FedEx Corporation has received 3.70 out of 5 stars based on 430 Customer Reviews and a BBB Rating of A+."

So, 3.7 out of 5 stars is a 74% rating. And that's an A+? Okay . . .

I get a good feel for local businesses from online review venues like Yelp, and I've even received responses from businesses for whom I've left reviews. Businesses Facebook pages are also good places to get a sense of the business or to get their attention .  .  .

You should really check the BBB website. Check all their reviews and complaints. It is still a viable resource as FedEx responds to their comments and complaints. Do the others?

And how do you figure a %74 rating is an A+? Not where I come from.

Fedex routinely forges my signature on packages sent to me with signature required. They just throw it over the fence, don't even ring the doorbell and drive off into the sunset. All the while I'm waiting inside never even hearing the truck, then I get the notification "Package delivered, signed for by C. Orchid. "

See what I mean, @pauls-parts? That's exactly what I'm talking about. You've proven my point perfectly. That 3.7 out of 5 stars and the A+ rating came straight from a FedEx BBB member page.

That's why I think the BBB has lost a lot of its clout. 74% is not an A+ according to a lot of people--not just the ones where you come from.

Thanks for making my case! I'm glad you agree with me.

Here's the link to the page. The passage I copied and pasted (hence, the quotation marks around it) is along the right-hand side, maybe about half way down, under the little heading "Composite Score," with 3.7 out of the 5 stars colored yellow.

So you don't think that it is a good idea to file a complaint on website that FedEx responds to complaints and feedbacks? Are you an employee of FedEx you sure sound like it. Why would you not encourge people to do something that might make a difference? You don't think that if people started complaining to the BBB they would drop that %74. And if it did not matter to them. Which you do not know. Why do they respond to all complaints and feedbacks. BECAUSE IT DOES MATTER.

I've "heard" you tell that story before, and (no offense intended here) I always just find myself giggling when I visualize the FedEx driver speeding off and then you reading that message! I know it's not funny, but, man, I just can't help myself!  laughing

Did you file a complaint with the BBB about it? Or did you contact FedEx? Or did you just roll your eyes and figure, "Whatever?"

The BBB is just a marketing scam itself.  As a former business owner, yea a real life 4,000 sq ft store, I can attest that complaining to the BBB is like, well you know what you should not be doing upwind.

I can laugh now too, but at the time it really POed me if that's a word. slight_smile

BBB never entered my mind. I was on the fence about calling FedEx for two reasons. One, I have heard that the branches acually encourge this practice to  save drivers' time. And two, I didn't want to get the guy in trouble if it's not policy. But now that I think about it, I am going to call the local branch and complain about the practice in general.

FedEx is a price-gouging portion of the collusive monopoly of UPS/FedEx.  USPS can be included but I do not believe they are in collusion with the other two.  If they are, they're getting the short end.  Those two companies are a disgusting example of the US economy being overtaken by corporate enterprises with markets cornered.

I filed BBB once against ebates about eBay (and then ebates) failing to pay me money for using ebates a few years back.  They responded, paid me about 40% of what they should have owed me, and ebay conspicuously removed the category I was using immediately after (haha) - only to reinstate it in the last six months.
