Fees

So, my question is about "tax".  On one of my items where I charged tax, when Ebay took out their fees, they included the tax as part of the item sale.  This doesn't seem right to me.  Shouldn't their fee be based solely on the price the item sold for?

If you ran a restaurant or other retail sales business, you'd notice that your credit card merchant processing company charges their fee on the entire transaction - services, taxes, tips, etc.  Our fleet of food truck's provider - Block - whacks us 2.6% plus a dime for every transactions total, no matter what's on the tab.  Cost of doing business.  (shrug)

Re: Fees

No, it is based on the total of the buyers payment.  As all payment processors do.

Re: Fees

It's based on the transaction's total... Item + s&h + Sales tax (where applicable). Then add a $.30 Transaction fee.

Re: Fees

It doesn't "seem right" to you but it's legal,  it's what they do, it's how they do it ... and you agree to it when you sell here.

Re: Fees

<<Final value fees

We charge one final value fee when your item sells, and you don't have to worry about third-party payment processing fees. This fee is calculated as a percentage of the total amount of the sale, plus $0.30 per order.

The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, the shipping service the buyer selects, sales tax, and any other applicable fees.>>

Selling fees.

Re: Fees

Thank you.  That does make sense.  I didn't look at it that way.
