Feedback

As a seller that tries my hardest to make sure my buyers are satisfied, I think it's time that Ebay stopped buyers from leaving negative feedback without first contacting the seller. YOU NEED TO MOVE TO PROTECT SELLERS from uncourteous buyers. I.E. give buyers a chance to correct any issues first. I'm tired of buyers dropping negative feedback without my even knowing there was a problem.

Buyers should have to first show that their issue has not been resolved via communication with the seller, before being able to leave feedback. Ebay tends to make every effort to protect buyers, but ignore their trusted sellers.

Agree 100%. Just had a buyer leave negative feedback with only 1 word, "terrible". I inquired as to why and how to help. Buyer just said it was the incorrect item and took to long to arrive and refuses to return for a refund. It was a door handle (New In Package), fully described, pictured, and delivered in 5 business days. I requested Ebay to remove the negative feedback. Ebay says I should reach out to the buyer and respect their decision regardless of the outcome. AND, Ebay gave the buyer 10 days to reply. SO, 10 days of nothing. I now have a negative feedback stuck on my profile for a buyer that apparently bought the wrong item for their required application and refuses to help resolve the problem. WHY does Ebay force me to accept punishment for a transaction that I did everything correct on?

Personally I think making that a requirement would lead to some using feedback as blackmail.  Ebay tried to eliminate that aspect of feedback by no longer counting it against us.  I'd hate to go back to that.

I know it is annoying, but nothing says you can't still make it right with a buyer (if you are at fault) even though they jumped to feedback first.  If you aren't at fault, then don't worry about it.

Your assumption seems to be that eBay users who leave negatives without communication are interested in trying to resolve their issue. They aren't.

I haven't left a negative in a decade. But doesn't a user get warned to communicate before leaving one?

Not any longer ... as far as I know.  I haven't left one for over a decade.

Buyers have to wait 7 days before they can leave negative or neutral feedback.

I think you took this wrong. Using feedback as blackmail is against Ebay policy, in which case Ebay will step in after you report the buyer. The bottom line is that if Ebay wants to attract sellers they need to do something to correct this mess, and protect against the new breed of vigilante buyers.
