I can’t figure out why I’m not getting any feedback. I ship all of my items is polymailers. But I seal them for protection inside a plastic baggie, taped nicely first. I don’t use tissue paper or any fancy cards. I only have 1 shipment that took more that a day & half the time I end up paying for part of the shipping. After weeks of research & reading what other successful sellers do they say it’s a waste of money for fancy wrapping, etc. - all my shipments are first class. Under 12 ounces, so far at least. I’ve received 4 feed backs on 28 sales? Is it rude to contact buyers & ask for feedback - What is going on?

I think buyers have 60 days to leave feedback, so it's not always immediate. Some buyers wait awhile and do them all at once every few months. You may still be getting some.

I used to provide a thank you email when printing the shipping label. I provide shipping information as soon as I print a label. I was providing feedback at the time of sale. Only about 25% of my buyers return feedback. I have one day handling but will ship sooner if possible.
So, no more thank you notes. My feedback is now automated and will only give feedback when given feedback.
I checked the feedback of the buyers that purchase from me and 90% of them have not left feedback to any seller for 6 months and mostly for over a year.
Giving a buyer feedback is worthless since the only feedback you can give is positive. 99.9 % of the people that purchased from me are very nice people and I have very few problems. I appreciate whoever purchases from us and make a great effort that the transaction goes smoothly. We are not perfect but strive to be perfect.
If you want to show appreciation to your buyer do your best to insure a great transaction and if a problem occurs handle it promptly and professionally.
Buyers do not want to be annoyed with emails asking for feedback. Everytime we make a purchase the retailer is asking for feedback and a review.
It more important to have great feedback and not how much feedback you receive.

Feedback has lost its importance over the years. Once a buyer has received their item with no issues, they just move along. No one has time to go back just to leave a comment, that has no payback for them. There is no incentive for a buyer to leave feedback.
You should look at your positives as a sign that you are doing everything correctly as a seller. Buyers will look for neutrals and negative comments, no one will be reading anything positive written about anyone else. No one has the time anymore. Concentrate on that and the excellent job you are already doing, and your feedback will improve over time. Best of luck to you....

I guess what worries me is someone leaving negative feedback. It would destroy my rating because I don’t have a lot of feedback. If it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t care. Thanks for your response.

Thank you for your time. I agree with everything you said. Like I told the other person what worries me is because I don’t have any feedback, one negative would destroy my seller rating.

I’m new to the board. I don’t mean to double reply or reply to the wrong person. I can’t figure out how to delete.. oops

It's not rude to send a note asking for FB, but it is a SUPREMELY BAD IDEA! Don't do it. You will get burned if you do. You may get a few that leave FB, but you will get burned with a NEG or NEUT, I can guarantee it. Just leave it alone, it will come with time.
Very few leave FB anymore bc shopping online is super common now & there really isn't a need to. They just want to order their item & receive it. Which I totally get, since I'm hounded to leave "reviews" for practically every item I purchase, every dr I vist, every trip I take, every everything! I get home from a day of errands with 4 emails wanting me to leave reviews, it's exhausting & of course I just delete them all.

Only about 10% of my buyers leave me feedback.
That's 1 in every 10 sales.
I wouldn't worry about it.

According to ebay, I have sold over 1200 items in the last couple of years. Yet my feedback is 515. Do I bother buyers to leave feedback? No. I already made a sale, and got to keep the money. If buyer leaves feedback, its appreciated.
If you really want more feedback, buy stuff that you need with this account. Good luck on your selling journey.

You are doing just fine, and welcome to this forum. Anytime you have a question or want other opinions, make sure to come here first and post about it.
One last comment, try not to dwell on something that hasn't happened yet. You will eventually get your first negative, like your first traffic ticket or first time losing a job. It happens to each and every one of us. You will survive that and more. Best of luck to you....

That potential neg would, by percentage, "hurt" me too but the only thing to do is do my best to not give a reason for one.

1. Leaving feedback is strictly voluntary for both sellers & buyer.
2. I see value in FB when I am buying items and will exclude sellers regardless of the price.
3. I no long sell on eBay as of last October. When I sold I shipped 1665 items all a decent prices and very nice profit percentages. Always shipped within in one day, often same day, shipped on Saturdays. Never over stated the condition of pre-owned its - I understated the condition - never used the term "like new" - no such thing. Minimized marketing jargon in my listing but provided key details - like material content, key dimensions all in short bullet point briefs, lots of pics a closeup of any flaws that were mention in my written descriptions. When the buyer paid even if they were late payers. Always left buyers Feedback at the time I printed the shipping label. Never solicited FB even in my listings. Only shipped via USPS - First Class Package or Priority Mail. Never did the faux "free shipping". As a seller I received 1006 FB - only 1 Neg out of 1665 shipments - a decent batting average. In my book a customer and prospective customer and their $ is King. Never got into a battle of words. Never decline a return request even though at one time I had the "no return" policy stated - it hurt my sales - I ditched it 'cause eBays Money Back Guarantee has the buyers back. wit buyers or prospects - no one wins - buyers expect easy returns - just like they get at B & M stores (except second hand stores) - I only sold pre-owned. Had less than 5 returns - all were remorse reasons (doesn't fit). When in doubt do what is right. Guess selling for 41+ years taught me a few things - typing and proofing was not one of them.
4. Never spend all you profit earnings down to the last nickel - save some funds in hold status for the return that will come - in spite of a no return policy - no returns does not mean no refunds - eBay will see to that.

I always saw leaving feedback, as a seller, as no different than telling a customer "thank you" at the cash register of a brick-and-mortar store, so I always left it at the same time I printed a shipping label. Other sellers choose to play games, and with-hold it until the buyer leaves it for them. Very few buyers ever leave it, good, bad, or neutral, so if you got 4 out of 28, you are batting average.
Bottom line, don't sweat it. Do not contact buyers and ask for it, don't worry if they never do. It really isn't that important any more.

Old school Ebay feedback is gone. I'm new like you and I get maybe 1/6 that leave me feedback at best. Feedback should work itself out. I got one neutral feedback in my first 3 months and I freaked out, but it was just growing pains.
Also, I would suggest to NEVER ask for feedback from a buyer. That is just bad seller etiquette.

Feedback is not mandatory for sellers or buyers. It's totally voluntary on both parts.
