Out of my last 20 sales, only 3 of those customers left feedback. I don't put a ton of stock into feedback, but that seems really low to me. The low amount of feedback I do get is great, with really nice reviews and great appreciation for my service. I am just curious as to the low rate. Is this normal for everyone? I try to run as professional a service as I can. My items are packaged well. Bubble wrapped if needed. Surrounded by shipping paper to prevent movement. Boxes are nicely taped and labeled with an 'ebay' sticker and 'fragile' sticker if needed. I even send a message to every customer letting them know their order has been received and that it is packaged and will be transferred shortly for shipment, and I even send them a picture of their item packaged. I have never been one to ASK for feedback. I always let my service dictate that. But the lack of feedback by customers got so bad a couple months ago I even contacted ebay about it. I think I went 18 orders with one feedback at that time. I am grateful for what I do get. And the few that do say something really have nice things to say. It just seems to be an extremely low rate. I have left feedback for every single purchaser since I started ebay. Is this what I should expect from ebay customers from here on out?

We have been selling for a while - used to about 40% left FB for us. So 4-5 would leave feedback out of 10 orders. Today it is closer to 2 out of 10, so about 20%.
Most buyers do not seem to care much about FB these days. Personally, the FB system needs to be re-vamped or eliminated. Not very useful. ymmv

Leaving feedback is time consuming, clumsy, and the buyer has no incentive to do it whatsoever.
What you are experiencing has been the norm for me and many others for two decades.

And you underlined that becauuuuuuse....you assumed I was demanding feedback? Please don't reply to anything else I post in this community. Thanks.

1. When someone is replying to a specific poster, that person's ID can be underlined. It's automatic.
2. When you post on the Boards, anyone who wants to can reply.

What you are experiencing is completely normal and absolutely no reflection on you. I believe most people simply don't think to go back and write anything as they have received their item and all is good now. You sound like a responsible seller, good on you. Concentrate on selling and don't put anymore focus on this particular portion. Like a watched pot, it will boil once you turn away from it. Best of luck to you....

With so many online platforms out there & with more online purchasing out there & all requesting feedback, buyers could be fatigued in leaving feedback. Receiving a 20% feedback rate is about right. Just continue your excellent process & don't worry too much about receiving more feedback. Over time, your feedback will grow & grow.
Hang in there!

Ouch, where did that come from? What poster Lucky was explaining that was underlined is that buyers have no incentive to leave feedbacks because all they can receive is positive fb. Most buyers get their item and move on, there is really nothing in it for them if they do leave a fb.

I think the underlined wording was for emphasis to the topic itself, not directed at you or anyone in particular. At least, it reads pretty mundane and non-threatening to me.
Understand FB is important to you. Especially when you're trying to build FB. I buy here also - get a zillion emails it seems from e-Bay asking me as a Buyer to leave FB.
To be honest, when the transaction was a little or a lot "plah", I tend to leave nothing.
Figure that is "kinder" to the Seller.
For me, "plah" events are:
1. Not shipping when you say you will. Everyone has a handling time, use it.
2. Not shipping with the service promised (i.e. I paid for 1st class, Seller uses Media Mail. Still arrives in the "window", but not cool, from my perspective.
3. Seller uses brown paper to cover a priority box and ships it 1st class. Rude dawg expression from me every time I open the box.
4. Packing is lacking, but some how arrives undamaged. Paid $80 for a collectible new/sealed John Lennon Japan import vinyl. They covered it in saran swap (cooking wrap) and shoved in a bubble mailer. It had free shipping listed. Not impressed. Tempted to do a Neut, but too much work.
5. Seller calls it New or NOS and while usable or viable, it is neither. It is Used.
Unfortunately, there can be a myriad of reasons no FB left, from apathy to "plah"
I never ask for FB. Too afraid I'd get a red donut due to annoying a Buyer who was pestered for it.
Good luck with your sales. You mis-read Lucky's intent. Might be good to apologize for that. Again, ymmv

Wowzers!! You are way off base on that comment. Not at all what luckythewinner was saying.

Tagging on with my post directed at the general population rather than anybody in particular.
This account: feedback left 25,455
Feedback received 16427
Feedback not received 9028
Once upon a time feedback was pretty important and ebay pushed new users
to utilize it. I don't think they (ebay) do too much of that today.
I leave all my buyers feedback simply because some of them want it, expect it, demand it.
I've seen buyers leave a red donut because a seller failed to leave feedback.
Some of us use the feedback given and left to examine the thought process of buyers.

I used to get about 50-60% feedback from buyers, but lately it's more like 5-10%. I think quite often a lot of buyers don't leave it until they go back on to eBay to browse for something and see a reminder. And with inflation being so high I would imagine less people on going on to eBay at all. That said, up until the past month I was having a good run with some really great feedbacks. I go above and beyond when I ship; pack very well and ship ASAP. So it's a tad irritating at times. But still better to get no feedback than a negative one. 🙄

^^^^ This is quite acurate I think.
A lot of occasional buyers have no reason to come back to eBay until they want to purchase again - unless of course they have an issue.
So item received, on time and in expected condition, buyer is happy and has no need to return to see the many, many reminders eBay leave about FB - we, as sellers notice it more because we are here daily.

You are WAY off base with your nasty response to Lucky, who was only underlining for emphasis on the reality for buyers. Hell, as a seller, I don't always leave FB, sometimes I just don't get around to it.
What you're experiencing is perfectly normal & has been for a very long time. I get about 30% FB on my sales & they run in streaks, sometimes I'll go 20 sales without any & other times, 8 in a row will leave me FB. I don't care either way. Honestly, most of my best repeat buyers do not leave FB & it doesn't bother me one bit. They keep buying, so clearly they are happy.
Since you posted, I will also give some unsolicited advice. Drop the personal note to each buyer & the photo of the item packaged. Ebay already sends 4-5 emails for every tx, WAY TOO MANY as it is, on your behalf. You adding to that is likely to annoy buyers. I know it would me.

@hughescollectingcompany I wouldn't worry - feedback has been steadily decreasing for years. As a buyer I don't find it time consuming, but I do forget a lot and I think that's the case with a lot of people. eBay sends pestering notices about it after 30 days, which I actually resent their doing (it should be a seller opt-out) - it's voluntary. I leave FB for all of my customers. I appreciate it when I *do* get feedback and that's the happiest way to deal with this, I think, so you're on the right track with that.
