Feedback

I have many "non-reported feedback" sales . How about if Ebay had a time limit for no feedback. Lets say after a month without any feedback on a sale it was automatically given a positive rating ???

A lot of buyers won't leave feedback if there was something wrong with the transaction, rather than damage a seller's account with bad feedback. If the seller was going to automatically get good feedback after a month, then they would leave the bad feedback instead.

Feedback doesn't count towards your seller performance. You don't need feedback, you need completed transactions that daidn't have any issues or problems. If you don't receive feedback, a complaint or a dispute for a transaction, then you have what you need.

This type of thread gets posted avry few days here, maybe a thousand times over the past five years.  The response is almost universal.

FB is VOLUNTARY

FB means little to nothing anymore.  It's far too easy for sellers to manipulate it by requesting removals.

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Hook, I am sorry you came to the wrong place regarding feedback, as most of the responders here will tell you that feedback is voluntary (some put it in capital letters) and how unimportant it is or be glad that that feedback isn’t a neg.  It is my opinion, and I am entitled to it, that feedback is only voluntary to the buyer as the buyer can choose to leave positive, neutral, or negative, or none at all. The seller can only choose, or volunteer as some like to term it, to leave positive or none at all. This seems like an inequitable “voluntary choice” for the seller so it might be a good idea if the word voluntary was replaced by another word as it has become a misnomer in these cases. It would seem by now, since there are so many posts regarding this issue, that yes, it is important to some. This current system can only point out a bad seller - but not a bad buyer. Indeed, a new system or none at all would seem to be in order!

If you are concerned about the appearance of your feedback, then please keep in mind that more green won't matter but getting other colors will.  Forcing this non-issue isn't a good idea.

If you searched feedback under this Board, the amount of threads on what you are proposing would be staggering.

Getting automatic positives would ensure that buyers who were not totally happy but decided to let it go would post the deserved negative to that seller, because they would not want them to get an undeserved positive.  And why wouldn't they?

When I don't leave feedback, it is for a reason, and it is to the seller's advantage that I didn't leave it.  Yet I might get an email, stating I left you a positive, please leave one for me.  Then I explain WHY they didn't get feedback.  I didn't think you would want future potential buyers to know that you sent the rare, vintage, fragile porcelain figurine is a plastic bag, poly mailer, or that the item came with significant undisclosed damage, and I list all the damage.  Now many buyers at that point, when prodded, would go ahead and list the neg that was deserved.  I get apologies back and the feedback issue is dropped, as it should be, and it should never have been brought up.  This also proves that positive feedback is not guaranteed; of course YOU think you deserve it, but the facts may indicate something quite different.  So like Clint Eastwood said, do you feel lucky?

As has been said, feedback is voluntary.  Don't poke the sleeping bear.  You might not like what happens.

Fortunately Ebay no longer uses feedback to rate or punish sellers. It's not used for evaluations. It's not used to release holds. The only thing it is used for is for buyers to be able to look at the track record of their trading partners.

You seem to have enough feedback to show your track record. More won't really help you. I'd let it be.

I have an outfit right now begging me for feedback at least twice a day, thing is I already gave him good feedback when I got my item, he is a new seller but now I wish I would have waited to leave feedback, it would be different.

Wow, I'd report that for harassment...
