I was looking into making sure a negative I'm about to give someone will stick...
but as a seller, if I want a feedback removed, what's the process and timeline? I didn't realize this could qualify for removal til I went and read policies/protections. Buyer complained (neutral) about shipping timeline when I shipped on time and USPS had a delay. Apparently that's eligible for removal. It was left ~2 months ago. Am I within my timeline to apply to get it removed?

I'm marking this as the solution so it's clear for everyone to see and read.
THE NEGATIVE AND THE NEUTRAL ARE NOT RELATED. THE NEGATIVE I LEFT WAS NOT RETALIATORY. IT WAS NOT FOR THE MEMBER WHO GAVE ME A NEUTRAL. THE NEGATIVE WAS LEFT FOR A SELLER WHO I HAD A TRULY AWFUL EXPERIENCE WITH, FOR A SELLER WHO SEEMS TO HAVE GONE OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE THE EXPERIENCE AWFUL. I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE THE SELLER DIDN'T GET AWAY WITH WHAT THEY DID TO ME
I was reading up on policy in relation to the negative I was getting ready to leave the seller. I stumbled upon and discovered information that relates to a neutral I received from someone else. No further connection between the two

There's no way to make "sure" it will stick... sellers can be relentless in getting them removed. I've spent 5-6 hours on getting one removed (in this case it was a BBL buyer who circumvented, whose item I cancelled and eBay was telling me his horrible feedback would stick... I kept going at it until someone would listen... logic being BBL people can't buy, so he shouldn't have been able to buy but he did, and I should be able to cancel, and I did).
For getting them removed there's an automatic removal tool where you can submit a request and it will be reviewed. This generally doesn't work for me on ones I have gotten removed. If that doesn't work, you can call and speak to a CSR, or contact eBay on social media. If you're good at arguing with people (which I have done for a living), and get someone who listens, odds are it will be removed.

Wording counts a lot so you need to do it carefully. What were the circumstances and how do you plan to word your Negative?

You ask two questions.
1) What is the negative to say (in context to your experience)? I've never had a problem getting one removed, but it's been a long, long time ago that it happened. I'd have to consider it from the seller's view, too...
2) I'd not worry the process and timeline for removal of a neutral... but that's just me. Heck, another neutral praises your photography skills, too.

I read the feedback. And the seller wouldn't do anything about the packing?
I am pretty sure the feedback will stick.
The only thing bad was the "F" used and not sure the International CS would understand what that means.
Remember that old saying "monkey see...monkey do"?
You and the seller both sell the same things.
I would not have left any feedback.
I had a bad experience like this...left not a very good feedback to a seller...I blocked this seller right away.
And the seller manages to have his friend buy some of my items and leave negative feedback for no reason.
This was quite a while back. Funny thing....that seller has been canned on eBay.
After that...I decided no feedback would be better.

"I was looking into making sure a negative I'm about to give someone will stick..."
Is this retaliation for a neutral you were given? You did not just buy something from that person to leave a negative? I don't think a neutral is going to affect your sales much. However if you start a nasty feedback war, that will affect your sales.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Let me be VERY clear. The negative I left and the neutral I received are for two independent users, and have nothing to do with each other.
I agree the neutral won't affect sales much, its just something I could have removed (ideally) because the issue in the feedback was an issue of carrier delay.
I WOULD NEVER leave a member "retaliatory" feedback, that is beneath me and I hope most members on here. Respect me and I will respect you. What this seller did was pretty disrespectful, as I realize NOW that they probably went OUT OF THEIR WAY to make sure my items would get damaged in shipping. That speaks to their character. That didn't occur to me til after. I believe my genuine and honest PURCHASE, and realistic feedback based on experience, may have started what would be considered a feedback war... as I see one starting, but it ends here, because I will not stoop to that level and participate. I never knew "respectable" sellers could act so childish.

I have an OT question about a feedback you received from a buyer. What did he mean that you were "not horney?"

Well, you see Alberta, when a buyer and a seller REALLY like each other .... 😉
On a serious note... THANK YOU FOR ASKING ... because I have never gotten over this so I'm glad someone sees it and acknowledged it... I believe it was an EXTREMELY UNFORTUNATE misspelling of the word "honest"

Ah the ole give a negative feedback right before the threshold for having it removed trick. 😉

Not sure what you mean "before the threshhold" or "trick". No trick just wanted to make sure if I would give it, it would not be immediately eligible for removal because I wanted to make sure the awful experience was noted for other buyers, this seller went out of their way to ship poorly. I mean I feel it took effort to ship that badly. Seriously. When I shipped it back, I shipped it with the same level of care I give all packages I ship. Ok not the same level of care, because there was no "Thank You" Note included for this person... i packed the stuff the right way though.

I was just trying to say that I've heard there are some (savvy) buyers out there who will wait and leave a seller negative feedback on the 89th day knowing that 90 days is the cutoff to have It removed.
Which bring up the question, is it 90 days from the date of the transaction or 90 days from the date the buyer leaves you the negative feedback? Does anyone know?
10-06-2023 09:10 PM
Ohh!!
First, I think it is 90 days from purchase probably? I'm guessing since there is 7 day delay for neutral/negative and it's based on transaction not receipt of item. Also... doesnt your first point that these buyers exist (leaving FB on 89th day) prove that it would be 90 days from transaction and not from receipt of FB?
Anyways, Geez, I wish I was that savvy or smart LOL.
No, I'm not anywhere near that vindictive. I don't think evilly like that. I had received this pkg early this week so plenty of time for them to try to get it removed but I don't think they have any grounds to and my understanding is since they don't offer 30 day returns (regardless who pays) they aren't eligible on that front either. My understanding is 30 day returns, buyer or seller pays, if the return process goes thru, the seller can have feedback removed (even automatically maybe?) Either way... this seller doesn't offer 30day returns and I was careful to not violate FB policy. Just wanted it to stick because this seller really did me dirty, and didn't want them to get away with it. I mean, it's pretty sad what they did, you had to work hard for this one. This wasn't a mistake or error or accident. There is also no way they are in business if they do this regularly. This had to be by design, and no one is stupid enough to think this "works" or "flies". They had to know what they were doing.

Didn't know if it was true or not, just heard it existed. Like Bigfoot.
