I have received a question through eBay communication from a prospective buyer. They want to know my minimum price for the item for purchase today. Before sending an offer I decided to look up their history on eBay. Their feedback seems to be all positive. But why, out of thousands of transactions by this individual, would only seven be purchases? The account does not show an association with an eBay store. Is it possible this is not legitimate?

That is the exact opposite of your original post, however people are allowed multiple accounts on eBay so you may not see how many or what type of accounts the buyer has or the correct number of sales or feedback. Just ignore the email and his aggressive buy tactic. Good luck

Maybe ... but it is at least extremely unusual that a person over a twelve-month period would have over 2500 buys but only seven sales. And some of the seller's comments for him (as a Buyer) are not good even though no negative feedback.

Remember that buyers can't receive negative feedback.

Why is this even under discussion?
Some sellers buy with a separate account.
Some buyers sell with a separate account.
Some sellers both buy and sell on the same account.
I buy and sell with this account and have 2 other selling accounts that never
buy anything.
There's a stamp website out in the ether that I've spent 10s of thousands of
$$$ over the years and have sold zero, nada, nothing on that website.
A scam or conspiracy under every rock.

You're correct ... I don't have a store. I was only using that example as what I do if I would receive a 'cold' proposal from someone on an item I listed. But the point is that he has more than 2500 buys in a twelve-month period, yet only seven sales. Seems odd in the very least.

I haven't. I attempted to check into this issue because of the unusual request from this buyer.

Why would it be odd for someone to have thousands of buying feedback and only 7 selling feedback ? There are literally thousands upon thousands of Ebay members who do not sell or sell very little. Also why would it be odd for someone to ask what the lowest price a person would take ?

So my buddy that buys a lot on eBay and has sold maybe half a dozen items (old computers/phones/ski boots/etc) over the lifetime of his account would raise red flags for you?
Your opinion that it's odd seems odd to me. 😉

My apologies to those who interpreted my original post in a manner I had not expected. When I wrote that, " But why, out of thousands of transactions by this individual, would only seven be purchases? ", I meant that this person had only seven purchasers leaving feedback for him out of more than 2500 transactions in the last twelve months."
That being said I think @huntfishdie45 had the best answer regardless of my murky description of the problem!! Thanks to all who attempted to help!!

Are you saying he had 2500 FB as a seller and all 2500 FB were from 7 unique buyers?
Am I the only one that's more confused each time this is explained?

My apologies to all who misinterpreted my initial question. When I wrote, " But why, out of thousands of transactions by this individual, would only seven be purchases?", what I meant was that only seven purchasers had left feedback for him for more than 2500 transactions over the past twelve months. The rest of the feedback (thousands) were for this individual as a buyer.
Having said that I think @huntfishdie45 had the best answer to my rather confusing question. Thanks to everyone who replied!!

He probably sold his mistakes. That is how I started my 2nd seller account here years ago.

Virtually all of their feedback is from buying.

I see absolutely nothing odd about that. Would it completely blow your mind if they had 2500 buys and NO sales?
