Normally this isn’t an issue, either a transaction was great where positive feedback is left or it was meh, I leave no feedback, and just move on from it.
Decided to try some off brand thermal labels. Bought said labels (which work awesome with my rollo btw ❤️)! Sellers shipping/service/product was excellent. So what’s the problem you ask?
Seller used a Priority box “hidden” inside of a poly bag, utilizing USPS ground and not Priority. I understand why they did this as labels were $22 with free shipping. Box was heavy (2000 labels), so more than a few pounds.
Now I know many think, no big deal, you received what you purchased and loved it so this should just be a carry on, let it go thing … but … I use priority padded flat rate envelopes almost every day and do not want these free supplies to go away because of the abuse.
Think if it was a unknowledgeable new seller or very small seller, I may have let this one slide but it is a BIGGER seller (1300 pos feedback/12 neutral/2 neg last 30 days). So is this a leave nothing, move on and forget it or 🤔. I really shouldn’t be this po’d as I received better than expected product/deal. Help! Lol
Many thanks for thoughts on this matter!

Yours is an event that has happened to me... and it's one of my biggest pet peeves. 😠
Days past... I'd leave no feedback. With the recent changes, I'd leave a neutral and the reason behind it. 😏

^^ This is exactly my thought as well ... I always leave positive feedback, but when I see unethical packaging then they don't get any feedback. I just move on.
I maybe see the practice in 1 out of 40-50 purchases.
I haven't thought about how I would handle this after September 3. Probably, I will send them a note to say that I noticed the practice and I'm not doing anything about it publicly ... some sellers don't know that it is a problem.

My big sellers that I buy from use items from the post office for padding inside the box.
I find it a hassle because it's not reusable for me and I have to throw that stuff away.
I like to recycle myself but can't on that stuff.
However, these sellers(big sellers) are using postage from the post office and not eBay shipping label postage.
That's a big difference for me.
Looking at some of the dates on those items used for stuffing a package are years and years old sometimes...LOL
As long as the payment of postage for shipping is being done by the post office I have no beef.
Do I leave feedback...I never leave negative or neutral feedbacks.
I usually don't leave feedback to the big sellers...I don't like the competition checking to see where I get my deals or my items to re-sell on eBay.

I would leave a neutral - and maybe quote from the USPS site where it states shippers cant do this.
Since eBay is now going to leave positive for everyone if the buyer doesn't, if there is an issue I will be leaving neutral.
FYI - I have never left any seller a negative

As a seller who purchases tissue and bubble wrap or uses my own packing materials found around the house, I hate when other sellers are part of the reason for rising shipping costs. They ruin it for all of us, whether we buy, sell or do both.
This is a feedback I left for a seller a couple of months ago. (FWIW, the package I received from this seller used brand new priority materials. They weren't recycled as she claimed but it doesn't matter.)

IMO, a well deserved neg. Sellers like this are expecting everyone using USPS to subsidize their packaging costs. I don't know about everyone else, but I am tired of postal rates increasing.

@kickin.assets Not only is this dishonest, but just plain wrong. I agree 100% with @albertabrightalberta and commend them on their feedback.
🤔 Maybe you got a "...better than expected product/deal" because they are not paying for some of their packaging, so they are passing their "savings" onto you.

When USPS had First Class and Priority. We shipped anything over 1 lb Priority.
Kept thousands of those Priority Boxes on hand (every different size/style).
Now that there's Ground Advantage? Seldom do we have a need to ship Priority.
Should I just throw all these boxes in the trash can? Waste them?
Or should I make use of them somehow?
Like interior padding for Ground Advantage
There are quite a few online sellers out there with the money and the means to use their own custom made PERFECT boxes. An expanding foam machine. New Bubble Wrap. Styrofoam packing peanuts. The best packaging tape available.
Should they start leaving y'all poor feedback because you're doing the best you can with what you have?
And for those of you that Sell? Best be carefull leaving feedback. That'll come back and get ya later. I know.

@redlinear You can always bring them back to the Post Office. Just saying.

I've done just as @mommaknows and the clerks at my local p.o are ecstatic to be able to offer a variety of boxes in addition to the flat rate packaging that's all they're allowed to order.
I've held on to some priority boxes for the times when there's little price difference between GA and PM but have donated many and have made postal customers and clerks very happy.

@redlinear It really comes down to what one feels is the right thing to do. I am big on doing what feels right to me. We all need to follow our hearts.
Maybe the next time you're at your local Post Office ask them. 😉

The PO will accept them back.
Dont make excuses for being less than honest.
Trying to deflect that others have more money and can have custom boxes isnt a good look..
