Fedex box at USPS

Purchased a box at fedex because they had the right size.  Went to ship at USPS and they wouldn't take it because the box had a fedex logo on it.  Had to buy some tape at the post office to cover the logo.  Is this normal?

Thanks for clarifying it for me. Much appreciated!

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.

No, that poster is a graphical representation of what I quoted from the current DMM. Those rules are still the same. No HAZMAT, Alcohol, Danger, ORM-D, chemical content markings unless applicable to the current shipment in the (used) box.

Then they aren't enforcing it. If they do, you have a problem, so better not to poke the bear, but that prohibition doesn't apply to using a box with a Walmart or Amazon logo or other branding on it (unless it has chemical or other markings too.)

Yeah - save the boxes with ORM-D on them if you need to ship retail ground to zones 1-4 to eliminate the dimensional rate.

If you are using boxes with markings from previous contents that show hazardous materials (including alcohol) you may get away with it forever.

Or the improbable might happen and something leaks - either from your own package or from another it comes in contact with.

If a package that has markings showing that the box holds hazardous materials, and indications that something has leaked from it, the sender can be held responsible for the costs of a HazMat response necessary until the leaking substance can be identified and isolated as necessary.

Which is why it is a really good idea to obliterate all markings that show hazardous materials if you are reusing a box for something that is not hazardous.  In addition to because it's the against the rules.

Brilliant! I'm all set for Zone 1-4 USPS Retail Ground shipments now that you gave me ideas:

Be great for shipping stuff via Media Mai too. Less likely to get inspected Smiley Tongue

Ooops. Forgot the ORM-D sticker. They'll probably never notice.
