Hi all,
I'm kind of new to selling on eBay and I'm having a problem I don't really know how to deal with. I put an item up for sale, promote it and then get the asking price in a bid with the message that reads 'IM contacting you regarding the item i bought from you on eBay. kindly text on my Whatsapp number +4, 4, 7, 7, 4, 8, 4, 3, 6, 6, 3, 9,'
This clearly is a scam and I haven't messaged the Whatsapp but I did send an eBay message stating to the buyer that I would only message over eBay and have had no reply. This person has bid on about 6 different items I'm selling with the exact message. How do I block them and how do I report them? They're clearly a fake account as it was set up 1st August 2020.
Does anyone have any advice?

You are doing everything right by not communicating with them with a 3rd party platform. I would report them via eBay's live chat. Click the link, scroll down and click 'Contact Us".

You can block them here:

It sounds like he won the bid? so you may want to see what eBay's customer service team says regarding a possible cancellation. Usually when the buyer's requests a cancellation or their address is inputted in error, all fees are credited back to you. In this case, if you start the cancellation, I'm not certain on how that works so you may want to ask eBay.
Good luck!

Thanks! Being an active seller is still new so it's all a learning curve!

If you want to avoid the scammers don't do auctions. Do buy it now with immediate payment required. That will help avoid headaches.
Also there are boards dedicated to the UK part of eBay that might come in handy:

kindly text on my Whatsapp number ...
Yep, a scam. If they are really the winning bidder on an auction, they have no intention of paying anyway. File the unpaid item dispute as soon as the system allows, and close it when you can to get your fees back.
Make sure the "message" is really from the buyer of record. All sorts of scammers send these types of messages to your ebay message account for nefarious purposes. Many include those that are just 'pretending' to be your buyer.
You can only report the buyer though the ebay system, if the person sending the message is truly your winning bidder or buyer of record.
