Malwarebytes is a service that protects against malware. The link is safe.

It's reporting a very well known scam that applies to all sorts of companies, not just eBay. Article has a lot of screenshots and copying the text alone will not get the impact across.

Here's the bare link for reference:

https://www.malwarebytes.com/blog/scams/2024/11/large-ebay-malvertising-campaign-leads-to-scams

The main point of the article is scammers using things like Google Ads to fool people with fake customer service phone numbers. But the article goes into a lot of detail of the methods used and what to look out for.

I get you’re trying to warn people but clicking an unknown link is how people get malware… might have been more on point to copy paste the article…

It is recognizable as a legitimate link, but anyone who knows enough to know it is legit is unlikely to fall for any of the crap the article warns of.

Just got this...

Large eBay malvertising campaign leads to scams | Malwarebytes

Nothing new here, this type of scam has been widespread especially after eBay stopped publishing a phone number for customer support.

It's not restricted to eBay or even to marketplaces, online links to fake customer service numbers are used to fool people in all sectors, it's an alternate version of phishing emails/texts, the intent is to obtain your confidential personal information.
