Re: FEES

I just realized that ebay is charging sellers fees on the sales tax which we do not collect nor pay to states . Sounds like a class action lawsuit pending.

If that was actionable in anyway, credit card processors would have been sued DECADES ago for doing the exact same thing.

Re: FEES

just sick and tired of be controlled by company that just does not care about the people who have been here from start and help them become who they are now.  force us to put item specs they want with no better sales as a result of the extra work just sucks.worst part is there really is not a better place to sell from that has the collectors still in or the quick turnaround .i have tried. Wish they would give us back a little and ease up on the fees so the small guys can get back to making a good living  or at least help them with their bills.

They are taking 17% ( a little more) from sold price and shipping cost. Am I paying more than others?

Unless your math is wrong, it's possible eBay considered you Below Standard.

Re: FEES

All what you say is true except for one big thing.  With the advent of Managed Payments now eBay is charging FVF and processing on Sales Tax and that they have not been doing.  Any saving eBay states we are now getting is more than negated.  We are paying more.  Loss of cash flow, we are paying more and the goof ball return system which holds cash flow and product for crazy amounts of time.  Return shipping labels if purchased from eBay are always at Priority USPS which for most returns is very high.  We have many shipping label that are 30 to 50% higher than our FedEx rates.  Just a money grab.

Re: FEES

FVF on say a state that has 7% sales tax and a buyer purchases a $50.00 item tax $3.50 fvf of that = 0.43c (at 12.55% fvf) Some states have tax on shipping so maybe add another 0.09c to that.

A lot cheaper than a tax account to work out all the varioius states taxes, apply them and distribute and pay them on your behalf.

eBay has become a disgrace!!  I just sold a baseball card and they charged me 12.5% of the final value which they calculate as the price of the item, the sales tax, and the shipping.  THE SALES TAX and the SHIPPING!!!  PLUS a 30 cent fee because, well, they haven't made enough money so they need to take another 30 cents.  I don't know if they've become desperate or they're pushing the greed envelope as far as they can so that they can get a website that was built in THIS millennium.   I'm so very, very done.  I'd rather sell my wares on the street corner.

Hopefully that buyer won't be claiming that it is fake or some scam, and sending you back a used bubble gum wrapper as proof. And then feign anger by leaving you a neg feedback.

Yeah, so, eBay fees and Paypal fees used to actually be a bit higher.  However, I don't remember them including Sales Tax and Shipping in the final value.  I could be wrong.  @Anonymous I get what your saying about the $1/$100 thing but the answer has to be something other than picking the pocket of everyone else.  This is the exact lesson that the big brokerage firms of the past learned in the 90s when someone else came along (please sweet baby Jesus, let it be soon) and charged lower fees.  I pray they have a better website!  Anyway, thanks for listening to me vent.  Have a great weekend everyone!

It is beyond ridiculous!  I was just charged $9.25 in fees on 49.99 , that is 18.5% I believe, because they add the shipping and tax.  WHY??

Either  you are in a non standard ebay FVF catagory, or it looks like you might be being charged an additional 5% Final Value Fee which is a common rate for seller defects, most of which are bogus.   Search for "Additional Final Value Fees"  in ebay help & contact . Also search for "service metrics".

Re: FEES

It depends on what you are comparing the fee structure against.  To my business it's acceptable.  In the previous century; pre internet, the split to sell or consign things was an average of 30% to the venue and sometimes as much as 50%.
