Hi! Ebay is taking about 12% and a bit from me. Including shipping. And that is about the same as PayPal and eBay fees combined from the pre-Managed Payment days. Ebay then took 10% and PayPal got 2.9% plus a 30 cent fee. Including on shipping. So not much change now.

They’ve been charging FVF on shipping for 10 years. If you just noticed, you’ve got much bigger problems than fees.
And the new fee structure works out about the same as the old one. So I don’t think you have a handle on your business.

I know.... I have not liked it for over 10 Years/ Now with shipping costs going up so much, hard t sell items under $10. I charge a fair shipping cost, but had to add 0n 13% for fees. 1 LB. to CA. use to be 3.85. Now 8.98 Arghhhh
The extra fee Hurts !!

Maybe they last sold in 2007 and thought, heck, 14 years later nothing could have changed right? 😄

Yes, items under $10 that cost $8+ to ship are not a good fit here. But sellers were gaming the system, so eBay made the change.

eBay has become a disgrace!! I just sold a baseball card and they charged me 12.5% of the final value which they calculate as the price of the item, the sales tax, and the shipping. THE SALES TAX and the SHIPPING!!! PLUS a 30 cent fee because, well, they haven't made enough money so they need to take another 30 cents. I don't know if they've become desperate or they're pushing the greed envelope as far as they can so that they can get a website that was built in THIS millennium. I'm so very, very done. I'd rather sell my wares on the street corner.

Blame the idiots that used to sell $1 items with $100 shipping for the shipping FVF

How do these fees compare to sales when PayPal was your payments processor?
Have you crunched the numbers?

Yeah, so, eBay fees and Paypal fees used to actually be a bit higher. However, I don't remember them including Sales Tax and Shipping in the final value. I could be wrong. @Anonymous I get what your saying about the $1/$100 thing but the answer has to be something other than picking the pocket of everyone else. This is the exact lesson that the big brokerage firms of the past learned in the 90s when someone else came along (please sweet baby Jesus, let it be soon) and charged lower fees. I pray they have a better website! Anyway, thanks for listening to me vent. Have a great weekend everyone!

The last I checked the United States was still a free country. No one says you have to use Ebay to sell your cards.
You can,
1. Sell them to your local baseball card store.
2. Sell them to a dealer at a show.
3. Rent a booth at a show, flea market, or antique show and sell it your self.
4. Consign them to a auction house like Heritage Auctions, Goldin Auctions, an d etc.
5. Sell them at a yard sale.
In my opinion 12.50% fee to eBay is a much better choice than all of than above.

Kind of depends on how you list and ship. If you are offering free shipping then yes the FVF is applied to the sale price which includes shipping. The FVF on any sales tax, if applicable, is calculated and added to the FVF on the sale price.
The same pretty much applies to set shipping or calculated cost. The difference being if you refund the buyer because the actual shipping cost was less because you found a cheaper way to ship without impacting the delivery time then eBay will refund the FVF associated with whatever the cost was on the difference you refunded. I do this quite often since there are so many options for shipping. On occasion it is cheaper to use a regional or flat rate box (which are both priority mail) that it is to simply use priority mail. The reverse also applies. Once in a great while Priority Mail Cubic is cheaper than any other method but you have to purchase and print the labels from outside eBay since they do not offer that shipping option. I use Pirate Ship for those and then simply paste the tracking information into eBay.

They are taking 17% ( a little more) from sold price and shipping cost. Am I paying more than others?

It is beyond ridiculous! I was just charged $9.25 in fees on 49.99 , that is 18.5% I believe, because they add the shipping and tax. WHY?? We do not profit off shipping and tax. I'm going to Market place. This is crazy! PS I have two ebay sites and have been selling for 24 years. Stop the madness or lose your valued sellers!
