Ebay is constantly pestering me to leave feedback to BUYERS who haven't left feedback for their purchase. That's just STUPID! First of all, what do you say? Yes, they had to pay for the item they purchased? GOOD JOB PAYING! YOU DESERVE A MEDAL!
Does AMAZON, MY DOCTOR, DENTIST, HAIRDRESSER, and RESTAURANT I eat at leave me a review?
Of course NOT! Thats not how FEEDBACK/REVIEWS WORK!
I ALWAYS respond positively to feedback. I have a five star rating. And if a buyer doesn't leave feedback, it doesn't bother me.
Why? Let's face it, people love to complain. So if they are not leaving positive feedback, I don't care why!
Give me FIVE STASR of FOGETABOUTIT;-)
JUST LEAVE ME ALONE EBAY
AND LET ME DO MY WORK

Turn on your auto feedback and turn off your notices from ebay. Personally I think it's important to say thank you for shopping with me ~ there is lots of competition out there selling my items just as they are selling yours and the customer chose you to purchase from. It doesn't hurt to say prompt payment, we look forward to working with you again. That's how you get repeat buyers imo. I actually go as far as to give my repeat customers a higher grade of feedback. i want them to keep coming back.
Good luck to you in sales this year!

Why not use it as an opportunity to make another sale? Don't use the pre-written feedback that eBay supplies.
Most buyers don't navigate to your store(if you have one). They just buy what's in front of them. They don't even know there are individual stores within eBay. So your feedback could be customized to the item they purchased. For example: "If you like that one, I have others to go with it, check out my store on eBay" or whatever. Sorry if I made you use your brain.
