So you don't think it could simply be a wanna-be seller looking for someone to list their items for them? (As the message seems to suggest, "list their stuff in my name"?

Was the listing for someone to list "their stuff" on eBay. As in, "I will hire you to list on eBay and send you the product to list".....
Or, "I am willing to list other peoples product on eBay for a cut of the sales" ?

My guess would be that it is about as legitimate as all the other similar schemes / scams, which have been around for many decades.
Work at home! Earn $500 a week! No risk! No experience required! No special training required! Make money in your spare time!
Anyone who answers such ads ends up spending money, one way or another, sometimes substantial amounts of money, rather than earning any.
As you the ad you saw, if I read you correctly the idea is that you will list items for sale using your eBay account. It may be some dropshipping scheme. It may be that you'll be asked to buy product to sell. Who knows? It may be one of a dozen schemes or scams.
Whatever you do, don't every sell anything that is not in your possession, because you will have no control over shipping or quality, and you will eat all the losses from unfulfilled, delayed, damaged, or not-as-described orders.

Report the ad to the site where you found it- with a screenshot.

If someone wants you to list their inventory under your name, it is not necessarily a "fake job". That seller could simply not have the time, not have the expertise, or could have been banned by eBay and has no alternative but to get a stranger to list his inventory for him.
But even if it is not a "fake job", it certainly be dangerous risk your own selling account and selling reputation for the sake of someone else's inventory. Especially if you as the seller do not have complete control over the listings, the inventory, and the shipping process.

No control at all. Hey didn’t mean to offend anyone with the “F” word

I will, thank you

They send you pictures of an item to post for them. Anytime a buyer has a question you are to email them and they respond and then you respond to the customer. Completely shady.

I really don’t. Tried it and it was a complete debacle. I ended up with negative feedback. Which isn’t the worst thing that could happen but…….

Similar to how suppliers to drop shippers work. Just a few flaws in this model.
1. Logistics are a nightmare since you sell but the other person ships.
2. Revenue shows up on your account and you are the one paying the taxes.
3. Depending on the amount of merchandise moved you may have to issue a 1099 to the individual.
4. Any issues with the merchandise, INR, NAD, chargebacks are your responsibility.
These are just a few that come to mind.

Maybe I was not clear. My response was meant to say that I'm sure there are people who advertise that they will sell for you on eBay, and that there are also people who advertise that they are looking for someone to sell for them.

Very good points that I hadn’t thought of.
