Excessive 5 figures pricing just to get views.

I'm stuck competing with sellers who inflate the price , 30000, 20k, 5k for a 60$ casserole & it's not even rare or pyrex. Why doesn't eBay control this pricing. Reporting & their post never come down. !? It's illegal by policy but they r allowing it. & Alot r usa China accts inflating the price, buying each other's product to set the market value.  This is really sad.

I don't see any of your listings, so I suppose you sell under another ID. Bottom line... nobody pays  $20K for one.

If that is your competition, then you should be doing well, because only an idiot is going to actually pay 20k for a piece of Corningware.

Sellers are free to price their items as high (except for necessities in an emergency situation, sellers can't price gouge - but some will try) or as low as they want, and buyers are free to buy or not buy said items.

They might be listing at those prices, but there isn't anyone going to pay those prices.

Do you really want ebay to control the pricing of items?? I know I don't. I cringe to think about it.

They did or still control the pricing on some items such as sanitizers, masks, etc. But those fell into a specific category.

Say, you are selling a casserole dish for $60.00 and others are asking $2K, it seems to me you are in a good marketing position.

That's called PRICE FIXING, and it is against Federal law.

You don't want someone else telling you how to set your prices. You sell Pyrex and Corningware. I'm Ebay, and I say you can't charge more than $3 per piece.

However it inflates prices scams. And it allows traffic to their page. As I can see only glass has the regulations full open. Corning is glass or glass product. That was intended for art glass. The only Cw pattern near 500$ is Renaissance pattern.   It stated in pandemic & only recourse to stop them is flagging. But they never take them off or sanction them. Traffic to page matters.

They do that to keep the listing live until they get the item back in stock. I asked a seller once when I saw crazy price. Some times they think they found gold the 20,000.00 is a new seller with one listing and has 51 watchers.

Generally speaking, those are 'placeholder' listings for sellers that have gone on vacation, but don't have a store so can't use vacation holds or placeholders for other reasons, as stated above.  Quite common tactic.  The vacation holds should no longer be necessary w/Ebay's new announcement, but I don't think the new option has been implemented yet (or maybe I don't see it b/c I have a store).

It's not unusual, sellers have been doing this for years & you're not really competing with them.

I disagree and many sellers come here using that excuse. Those are just idiots thinking they may actually sell those dishes for that much.  Go to msnmarketwatch and there is an advertisement on the page telling folks they could be a millionaires as those Pyrex dishes are worth thousands.

I'm sorry but I do not understand why you object to your "competition's" prices. They are not undercutting you. Are you blaming a lack of traffic to your listings on the inflated pricing of these other sellers? Because there is plenty of traffic to go around. No one is going to pay those inflated prices. That is the point. So they are not unfairly attracting traffic away from you. Plus, traffic does not guarantee sales. You want serious buyers, not curiosity seekers. Serious buyers are not attracted to such gimmicks. In reality, these other sellers have no bearing on your listings.

So you are wasting your time reporting them. What are you reporting them for? The price gouging policies are meant for those who are taking advantage of the pandemic to run up prices on necessary items. So if that is the policy you are reporting them for, Corning ware is not a commodity nor a necessary item.

The listings you used as your sample violate no policies or laws. Sellers are free to set their prices at any amount they see fit.

I said "generally speaking" b/c that's what the high prices usually are.   But that doesn't preclude other reasons.   You may be right, they may well be idiots who really think they'll get that, as I am well aware that there are Pyrex collectors & it IS true that some of them sell for a LOT of money, but most of them do not.  I have legit seen Pyrex go for thousands, but they are rare HTF pieces.  

I had the same feeling about some weird collector's cards, Melty something or other that was going for 16K, but discovered with some research that it was legit. 

I don't really get OP's issue either way.  There are no rules against it, it's not price gouging & sellers can set whatever price they want.
