Buyer wants to send a check for payment. Then arrange pickup after check clears bank. Thoughts.

That's not a payment option that Ebay requires. Tell them no and pay through ebay. You can't do business outside the Ebay platform. It's grounds for suspension. Local pick is ok.

Definitely say no.. they can use PayPal to put money into then buy your item. No exceptions!

I would wait a month because a "cleared" check can still be fraudulent. Bank tellers who tell you a check has "cleared" usually mean that the funds are available, not cleared.

Why are you considering ANYTHING other than the terms you set when you created the listing?

Maybe because it's a motorcycle with local pickup offered?
And the OP should probably read about how eBay Motors sales are usually handled.

I'm not, I was just curious if anyone does. I told them PayPal or cash. Seems like eBay has turned into just another outlet for scammers. Probably my last listing on ebay,to much of a hassle. Seems like eBay has turned into disfunctional family combination between Facebook marketplace and Amazon.

Even though you used the wrong word for what you meant in your title, it's exactly the right word, in practice.

Since it's local pickup, tell the buyer to come with cash because you do not ACCEPT checks. Tell them that if they insist on a check, you will ACCEPT it but he/she will have to wait 30 days until the check officially clears.
Tell them that there will be no EXCEPTION to above statement if they insist on a check.

Cash or bank wire

I would tell them no

Cancel the sale!!!!!!!!!

It's a motorcycle. Why do you recommend the sale be cancelled?

I agree, EXCEPT that I would wait 90 days for the check to clear. Checks don't truly clear in 30 days.

If the shipping details have No Shipping Local Pickup Only you can accept a check (and cash and money order) but you can't require one of those methods because then that would be taking the option away for the buyer to pay with an electronic method.
Better is a USPS Money Order. They can be cashed at the PO no waiting.
