Eraser icon missing when listing photos

I've called EBay and they indicate no issues on their side. When loading photos for my listings, after using the remove background feature, there is not an icon to further remove or add back the portion of the photo that got removed in error, i.e. the collar of a shirt. Any ideas? Also, if I need to use my own photo editor application, any suggestions?

It's missing because eBay's replacing the old background remover tool with a new one that doesn't include the touch up eraser.

I use Photoshop.

Are you on a PC or Mac? That may influence photo editing software suggestions from other posters.

You're right! I can no longer use any of the refining tools --eraser, paintbrush, enlarger-- on the "Remove Background" feature. If eBay is doing this on purpose, it's a terrible idea. The refining tools were the BEST new feature eBay has come up with for Sellers!

Messing around with adding then removing these tools makes the process of listing frustrating. We spend thousands of dollars setting up areas and processes to take photos based on how eBay sets up these tools. When they add a feature that we use on every listing now and then take it away, it changes our entire process. Just like when ebay switched from classic listing model to the new listing format a year or two ago. Massively increased amount of time for us to list items. Exponentially lowers our productivity and thus the number of items we can sell.  Just not quite the same. Years ago when they did away with turbo lister it reduced the number of items we could list efficiently drastically.   There are so many ways I can think of that would actually provide a benefit to sellers but they only focus on buyer experience. Seller experience when you are a middleman is just as important if not more important to increasing sales than focusing mostly on the buyer.  There are ways to increase revenue to eBay outside of adding more fees through promoted listings and ads. This really detracts sellers from listing stuff when some sellers have tighter margins and probably gain some promotion income while actually costing eBay sales and sellers on the other end.  How about adding seller features to make listing easier, or keeping track of inventory easier like a back-end storage location feature, or adding the option for more draft space or time, archiving old items that may return, or a tool that makes adding specialized shipping pricing easier such as for freight or importing freight rates and adding customization to shipping pricing for items. Every day while we work we sit there and ask ourselves why a simple feature might be missing after this many years that would speed up the process.

Why add a new photo tool and no eraser?  This doesn’t make sense when we are trying to show the item without the background.  I use Photoshop but it doesn’t always remove everything. This is a tool we as sellers need and I don’t understand why eBay removed it.  I hope they will bring it back.

This is a 7 month old thread, so I doubt the op will be replying.  Nothing was removed, it was just modified.  If you go to where you insert your photo frame, click the little pencil at the top left hand side of the frame.  From there you go all the way to the right where you'll see a little camera icon at the very end of your options, that's the background eraser.  Click that icon and your background should magically disappear.

It's 3 dots on the right upper corner of the image you want to edit.
To delete more than one image see second image

This thread is about the photo background removal tool.

eBay got rid of the original tool completely. They replaced it with a less-functional new tool.

With the original tool you would click the button to remove the background, then you could click on the touch up eraser to remove stuff that was missed or add back parts of your item that were made white in error.

The new tool does not have the touch up eraser @ckimodog . It was removed when they created the new (not new anymore) inferior background removal tool.

Several of us here still have the classic view.  Some of the problems that people complain about seem to stem more from the seller hub view.  I seldom ever (knock on wood) if ever have any issues & if it works for me being easy and accessible, I'm all in.  I tried the seller hub once and it was more than I cared to indulge into.  I just want to make my jewelry, sell it and see the millions roll in (🤣)
