Endless cycle of "Add a payment method to cover the rest" when method is already added.

As the title says. I am trying to cancel an order over a shipping address. I have most of the money for the refund in pending payouts but need to use my payment method to cover the rest. When I get to the cancelation review page where I select the reason, at the bottom it says "Add a payment method to cover the rest".

 

It's an endless cycle of adding it again, saving it and then being asked to add it again. Some of the time I do not even get the pop up screen to enter the information, and instead get redirected to the "we couldn't find that page" error screen.

 

I have tried on 3 different Windows computers, my iPhone, 3 different browsers, tried turning off all extensions and add blockers and nothing works. I tried switching my payment method to my bank account from my card, and every other thing i can possibly think of without any luck at all. I still get my payouts, so unless it's a new thing where certain cards no longer work, it has to be an eBay bug or glitch. 

 

I have chatted with eBay and spoken on the phone with eBay and nobody can do anything at all to help me, other that telling me to tell my buyer to contact eBay and open a case. My options are to let the order be late by not shipping, and hope that my buyer opens a case, and then hope that eBay removes the late shipping ding and defect since I can not process a cancelation since their payment method is broken.

 

Has anyone else ran into this issue who might know of something I am doing wrong or have not thought of? This is aggravating me to no end, and is yet another example of a broken website and nobody who can do anything about it.

Have you tried just the checking account, not the card.

Weird update. It's just that one card that will not work when I try to add it. Same one I have used for years, but now can not be added. On a whim, i tried a different card, thinking maybe it was a bank problem or provider problem, and it worked fine.  After that worked, i tried my other bank card from the same bank but a different account, and that one worked fine too.

 

For some reason, that particular card just will not register as a payment method on the refund review screen. In my actual settings, it shows up as it should though, so I am at a loss. I stopped by the bank to make sure no holds or freezes had been placed, and everything was fine with it. I can use it to buy on eBay, and in stores while in person, but using it for selling costs is an issue.

 

I just got off the phone with eBay who confirmed my account is in good standing with no issues or flags, and nothing funny going on. They are i guess opening an IT ticket to see if they can figure it out. For now, it's just a mystery to me.

Was it a Bank of America account?  I'd heard they had issues with their accounts for Managed Payments, I think, so maybe it's spilling over to this issue for you.  Definitely odd, but I'm glad you worked it out for now!

I had trouble with my debit card a few weeks ago.

I could make a purchase without any problems.

But when I tried adding it (not on Ebay) for pre-authorization or to set up automatic payments, it would no go through.

On Amazon, on a few orders, I tried to sign up for Prime the same time I placed the order.

The payment for the order would go through, but the Prime was declined.

Then a few weeks ago, I was trying to add my card to my Pay Pal account and it would not take it, kept declining.

I finally went to my bank to see what was going on and they had to call the main branch.

For some reason, they had automatic blocks on some sites.

He named off these sites that were coming up, and I said, yes, those were the sites I was trying to add my card to and kept declining.

He removed the block for me and I haven't had any more problems.

Kind of gets ya irritated when you know the card works some places and gets declined other places.

Weird. I went to the bank and was told there were no issues, and seemingly it works fine on Amazon. Maybe i'll get ahold of them again just to double check with that. The strange thing is I have two seperate cards for that account, same bank account but two seperate cards for it, one for eBay and the other for everything else, but the other card works just fine for seller payment methods, while the one I have used for years can not seem to be added.

@sg_media7 : You have tagged on to an old thread from last year that might be closed soon - it might be better to start your own new topic thread. 

 

I know this is a little off-topic but you are a new seller listing VERY high-scam high-value items. What is the situation in which you need to refund?
