Encouraging buyers to buy multiple, similar items from me.

I have 48 starbucks collectible ornaments. I want to encourage buyers to buy 2-4 of these each time so that shipping does not eat up all my profits. Does anyone have ideas on how to do this? Multiple discounts? Shipping discounts? I am not sure how best to do this.

Your buyers should be paying for shipping, either outright or factored into the price of the item if you offer free shipping. 

I guess I don't understand what you mean by shipping eating up all your profits? Are you undercharging for shipping costs?
