Emails asking questions for info in the description.

This is becoming more and more a common thing.  I get emails asking me questions that can be answered if they read the full description.

Clearly, it's not them being lazy, it's them not SEEING the full description.

There's a new pop up window with the photo, title and buttons on some stores, and some search results.  This does not include info in the full description you have to "click" a button to see that info and you can't click on the title like we've been trained to do on ebay.  The title is unclickable.

Ebay needs to do 1 of 2 things.  They need to make that title clickable and link to the full description box - NOT THE JUST LISTING, THE DESCRIPTION BOX!

OR

2.  They need to give us more space in the titles or make subtitles free.  There's too much secondary info I can't put into the title.  But I could if I was given another 100 characters.  Then, no questions, no need to read full description.

Are you getting the majority of the questions from a certain category?

Autoparts? Patches? Books?

All of them.

And it's obvious to me what the problem is because it's almost always info that's included in the description.  I looked into it and noticed this with these new "pop up" listing windows.  I see where people are getting confused.

IMO it's time for ebay to make the subtitle free so we can put secondary info in that space.

Another option would be for ebay to add a block for "key words" when you create a new listing.  This would clean up the title space for more pertinent info.  If we had another space to add those key words for the search function people wouldn't have to put them in the titles.  Most websites have this ability now.  I know Squarespace does. Pretty sure Google Marketplace does too.

In other words.  I think people who don't use ebay all the time think that, that little pop up listing IS the full listing and stop there.  They don't know you have to click something else to get the FULL listing.

I am not a fan of the pop up as well and can see how this confuses buyers. If they continue to use the pop up, maybe they could just have it click back to the full listing to complete the purchase. I also was in favor of having a check box that was required when making a purchase. The check box would say the buyer read the description/item details and would have a link to them if they don't click the box. Still would not eliminate 100% but could eliminate those who are not familiar with how to navigate the eBay site.

When I look at a listing, there is so much data populated on a listing it is difficult to see what the heck I was searching for. We are paying for a subscription or a listing fee to list our items to sell.   It is  getting 'UNFAIR'  and possibly fraudulent  for a company to give us a site, charge us fees to list ,charge a commission in addition to the upfront fees and then use that site to promote EVERYONE ELSES GOODS. There is so much data on listings, I get tired of looking for anything. Can't we go back to the basics?   Possibly that is why sales are really slow compared to prior years. I do believe many people are financially strapped right now as food prices has soared, but I sell antiques & collectibles and collectors usually will pay for what they want and my sales have tumbled from prior years.

Possibly people are going to all the other sites as they are less cumbersome to manuver.  IMHO.

I'm also starting to think the reason they haven't started using a "Key Word" input section in the listing creation is that it would directly effect their aglos ability to manipulate the search results the way they want to.

Key word searches are only effective if the search is a "true search" where the searcher gets results based only on their entered query.  Ebay's search does not function that way.  It uses a complicated formula based on what they WANT to promote, who's turn it is, seller rating, etc.

If they implement a "key word" entry into the creation of a listing they would have to completely change the way their search functions.  IMO make it more fair.

Absolutely!

Searching for items many times the Listing Title is not enough information to make an informed purchase.  I like to read the description to make sure I know exactly what is being offered.  I often find it difficult to find the description and sometimes I do not find the description at all.

Sometimes a Listing will include the Sellers own created web pages with many of their products being advertised and this further slows the shopping experience.

All the eBay Sponsored Advertisements along with the additional Seller pages make it very difficult to shop.  When I am shopping, the Listing page has my attention for about 3 seconds to convince me to spend additional time searching for the description before I am move on to the next item.  Unfortunately the Seller may lose a possible sale because of all the extraneous material being posted.

eBay Sponsored Advertisements in-between the listed item.

if the buyer can even find the spot to click to see the description there amongst all the clutter..................  it is sometimes unresponsive.

I also find that "My Description"  that I enter is just repeating the "Item Specifics". But I write out another full description of the item, some listings do not have anything written in the description and their "Item Specifics" do not tell the complete story of the item. So this makes you email the seller for clarification.

I find this to be true also.  But it is odd because when I create a listing I sometimes get a error message that something needs to be in the Item Description.  Other times the item will list without a description.  There must be a switch that is turned on and off at eBay's discretion.
