One further thing.....Walmart will be offering "layaway" again this Christmas shopping season. Can eBay compete with that?

I think with all the changes eBay has done over the last 4 or 5 years not for the better, not caring about their sellers and technical problems. Together with the Eliminating PayPal in 2021 that they will go under within a year or two.

I use my paypal $ to BUY on ebay. Separate account allows me to spend the money I earned. I hate this shift - it will mean more brain work for me.

Eliminating PayPal is just the next horrible decision that eBay will make. eBay does not look out for sellers, that is proven by eBay blindly siding with buyers with any dispute. Then they changed everyones return policy to their own policy, forcing good reputable buyers to accept any return when a buyer simply clicks "Return This Item". My understanding is, a couple years from now eBay will no longer offer PayPal as payment option. Good luck trying to remedy that disaster! The ONLY time eBay listens to a seller is when we have to call their call center to overturn another poorly decided case, and that is a challenge due to the language differences... I often spend an hour on the phone to do that, just as a matter of principle. I now offer NO returns on eBay, and find it helps with the automated return problem. How many problems do we the sellers continue to endure before we say this is not worth the hassle? I think I only have one more in me, before I close my eBay account. No eBay is not listening to any of the sellers. Too bad eBay used to be great, now it is dying a slow death as management decides what is best for something they know little about. I apperently spend more on Ebay fees than it costs to set my business up with its own online store, goodbye eBay!

Today was the first time I tried to buy something, only to find out using Paypal was not an option. I cancelled the order rather than have to provide CC info. Later in day, I avoided ebay for 2 other things I would have bought here in the past. (Got one from Amazon, will get the other from Target next time I go there.)
Eventually, I'll likely cave and give ebay my CC info, but with easy alternatives that are already set up for me, and virtually everyone else taking Paypal, it'll have to be something I really can't get elsewhere. Sorry for the sellers who would have had my business a week ago.

I am EXTREMELY concerned. That if ebay does this, it's over. The snobby craft site uses adyen and had Paypal. Just recently, they went totally managed payments. And they decided not let people use *stand alone paypal* anymore. They now have control over the sellers money and take the fees right out of their balances. Every fee. You can no longer pay your fees yourself, monthly. Of course now the sellers are finding fees, they never knew existed, coming out of their funds. Let me put it this way. The thread on their forums with 3000 complaints has been taken down. It's a total mess. HORROR is more like the word for it.

If you have a Paypal debit card, you can use that. It works.
