What's up with this?
https://www.scapicchiolaw.com/pdf/Steiner.pdf
The suit alleges eBay engaged in a conspiracy to intimidate, threaten to kill, torture, terrorize, stalk and silence the Steiners through a barrage of around-the-clock cyberstalking, ominous death threats and deliveries, and in-person surveillance that caused the Steiners to fear for their lives.

Yes that would have been the more intelligent route. But fraught with suspicion.

Quite possible.

The others could have had an entire agenda of their own.
Who said I put the actual blame on him (though I know CEOs are teflon covered)? Nonetheless, he was a bit slimy and capable of spouting some pretty ridiculous nonsense - it's easy for some people to run with it.
Again, I do not think ecommerce bytes is THAT influential - the people acting in this situation were immature buffoons and they can pay for their behaviour and grow up. Is eBay really so fragile that they can't take a critical column? Really?
@chapeau-noir Yes, eBay can take (or ignore) a critical column ... or in the case of The Community, numerous critical threads ... this is THEIR venue after all and they permit some leeway when posting criticism about them. They "may" even use The Community as a sounding board ...

The comments section on these blogs is in no way representative of the success stories that are present on the website. The comments are skewed in the direction of unfavorable reviews. Therefore if in reality EBAY IS ONE OF THE TOP SITES where sellers and buyers do well. The blog posts do not show this as the reality.

Perhaps this whole thing could have been remedied by more successful sellers posting on that blog to reveal the reality. But of course, those successful and pleased sellers maybe do not need the do that on a blog post, they just appreciate it and go on with their business.

@vintagecraze50 Good points, I liken it to New Channels, nobody will watch them and nobody will advertise on them if all they do is report good news ... throw a little controversy in there, some innuendo, some unsupported rumors, a few outright lies and BOOM, ratings go through the roof, advertisers are back and the money flows ...

Who????

Biz school does not prevent antisocial behavior.

National Enquirer at it’s best, and we all know how many celebs sued them for outlandish stuff.

Yes but their bias is unmistakable as well.
I do doubt that they're "working" for Bezos (as in getting paid to do it)...
I doubt that, but I don't doubt that they HATE eaby for whatever reason, and it shows.
That being said in America we're supposed to have Freedom of the Press.
That means the Steiners can publish whatever they feel like, one sided and biased as it might be, that is their choice as provided by the constitution. And we, the readers have the right to agree or disagree, what we do NOT have the right to do is to act out on our feelings about their articles (well, at least in terms of trespassing onto their rights as human beings is concerned).
To harm the Steiners in any way, regardless of bias or anything else, is wrong.

@mr_lincoln Yes - good grief, this forum - thread after thread screaming about how EBAY SUCKS etc. etc. versus the Steiners and their every few days' blog with the usual disgruntled comment section. IMHO worry about what the Steiners write says more about people's individual fears and perspective than any particular opinion.
ETA: ROFL! I just click back onto the forum and now eBay is a greedy, bloodsucking corp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A good chunk of the threads on here have similar shouty titles and all of this stuff goes into Google/Bing/Duck, etc. and people worry about a blog. 🤔 ?

Perfect.
There are at least (2) sides to every story. Often more. He who hires the "best" lawyers, often end up telling the "best" stories. No idea what to believe as so much of it is so outlandish. But, several of those sentenced admitted (at least in their sentencing) they did many of the things alleged, especially regarding to try and install a tracking device. lol
When the make this into a movie, would just like for some of it to be shot somewhere close to where I could get to and be one of those $15/day paid extras on the streets!

Two in, one out.... LOL
As to the topic: Any one reporting news can and will be a target of some fool...
Ebay was the fool it seems....

@katzrul15 I think in the long run it will be settled out of court and gag orders levied as required, it will never go to trial ... should take 1-2 years as a guesstimate ...
As for the movie ... I'm thinking more along the lines of a weekly drama airing on Prime Time ... all Title suggestions welcome _________________________________
