It's very, very easy to keep your metrics up. I'm not a high-volume seller; a couple of months back I ended up shipping three things late because I had a nasty migraine that prevented me from being able to go to the post office. Even that wasn't enough to knock me down from Top Rated to Above Standard, much less Below Standard.

Ebay does not read properly, most good returns are good that are damage by the Carrier.  Why sell on eBay if their is no profit?... It is just greed Gerald.

really don't think committing a violation of the law is comparable unless you want to look at never allowing people to opt out without penalty from their yearly contracts, removing listings rights while still charging full monthly fees as deceptive business practices similar to the Bank who was found guilty of not dealing in good faith with customers.

How do you fix bad buyer behavior and the company who allows bad buyers to be on their site?

Which sellers makes eBay more money: the one who sells 1,000 items for $10,000 or the one who sells 50 items for $10,000? and yet the one who uses more resources and costs more to maintain gets rewarded and the other does not. Think about it.

Gerald, be it right or wrong, eBay holds the seller responsible for carrier damage, not the actual shipper. eBay sees the carrier as an extension of the seller, acting on the seller’s behalf. An eBay seller cannot avoid the responsibility of getting the item to the buyer in as described condition, simply by crying foul on the carrier.

You have to ask yourself, why are so many of my items getting damaged in transit, if that is the source of the problem?

and that is the problem in a nut shell. Sell 50 items for 5 grand and nothing but sell 1000 items for 5 grand and get rewarded. The one with 50 items uses less resources and should benefit more since they are actually making eBay considerably more money.

Wow lots of judgemental people on here. I had this happen once years ago went from top rated to below standard from one buyer who I didnt bend over for. It happened to alot of sellers when they turned over the rating system years ago some from just having one to many not being scanned in time. Ebay could not of cared less. There was lots of we are sorries but no fixes. Yeah and it doesnt make sense that your such a bad seller they have to charge you more money. Never mind no one can hardly see your items anymore and your sales will be next to nil. Well lucky for you, now a days there is alot of good comparable sites to sell on.  Oh and if they down grade store like they did mine, be careful your not all of a sudden paying for seller manager pro. They like to sneak that in. And you have premium and have your fb set to automation that will be turned off. That was a surprise at the time and it was months in before I realized my customers were not getting fb.

Are you saying they sell for 2.55 % final value fees? Ten percent off 12.55 % would be 2.55 % correct? That doesn't seem likely at all. Is that what you are saying? Thanks.

First, I did not say the metrics were different I said they were arbitrary. Feedback from buyers are facts not arbitrary.

I could be very wrong, and if so, please educate me why should a seller with 100% positive feedback as well as near 100% rating needs to worry about any metrics. The only reason I mention volume seller I already posted and would refer to that.

The only thing I can figure is that they have not added tracking or post office has not scanned, maybe not enough sales (didnt check that) I have no clue. I do know whatever it is, IT'S arbitrary rules affecting them.

The facts are the facts. 100% positive feedback, almost 100% ratings from actual customers. That's any sellers job.

I 100% agree with you and others who state it's no cake walk for volume sellers. I am not anti volume sellers. They amaze me how they juggle the in's and outs of selling on this and other platforms at a high standard.

Feedback can be subjective, arbitrary, and even unfair. At one time, eBay used poor feedback as evidence to evaluate seller performance. But no longer. Feedback is left less and less by buyers as time goes on. Where it once was the only way to establish one’s reputation on eBay, it has since morphed into something else. Feedback may or may not give a clear picture of a seller’s history.

Seller metrics on the other hand, are based more on quantifiable data and results. How many defects on one’s account? How reliable was the seller in shipping in a timely manner and at what cost? How many return requests were opened by buyers? How many Not As Described cases?

It is not a perfect system by any means, but it does have some basis in evaluating a seller’s customer service ability, and professionalism. Feedback still has its place in helping to inform buyers who consult it. But I for one, am glad there is something definable that holds sellers accountable to both buyers and the platform. Right now, it’s these service metrics.

Yes, your right. I am about to get that reward.

I am taking care of family and some other issues. I am limited how often I can list due to helping those in need.

I do not expect a medal, I have no regrets. I know eBay isn't trying to hurt me but they are indirectly. I actually love to list on eBay and to be honest eBay has treated me very well but their policies are really going to hurt me if not adjusted.
