Hello everybody! I'm glad to be a part of the eBay community! I just started selling and it's going really well. I just sold an item and when I went onto the page to print my label I noticed it was super cheap- $9. Keep in mind the package is 4.5 lbs, 37x26x1 inche/inches. Then I noticed that it should be closer to $30, but it shows that I am getting a 70% discount on my labels. Is this normal!? Will it continue? It seems very high, as well as generous. Hope to get some answers. Thank you'

I was using USPS.

Are you sure you entered the dimensions on your print label screen?

did you check the rates to send it fedex or ups, that is a long package 37" and 24" wide, it is not always about the weight with usps the over size will make them go up like that

When the length-plus-girth of a package is over 84 inches, USPS charges a "balloon rate" which is equal to the 20-pound rate. The retail rate to ship 20 pounds to Zone 4 is $30.25. The online rate is $19.73.
The regular online weight-based rate to 4.5 pounds (i.e., the 5-pound rate) is $9.19. So it looks like your label was charging for the weight-based rate rather than the balloon rate. Hence, I share fern*wood's suspicion that the dimensions were entered incorrectly for your label.

I hope that you aren't just shipping that painting in brown paper or something ... the 1" thickness doesn't seem like adequate protection to me 😞
And while I've got you (LOL) ... I have some suggestions / critiques ... please don't get offended, I'm just trying to save you from grief:
Lose the website in your listings. Off eBay sales are seriously frowned upon and even the slightest whiff of off-eBay contact will get you restricted or suspended these days. They are cracking down hard.
"THIS PAINTING TAKES 1-2 WEEKS TO PRODUCE. PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN ORDERING."
It is listed as Fast N Free, which means that you must ship within 1 business day of payment. Your seller standards will take a hit if you do not. Plus, let's say I ordered it today. The listing shows me an Estimated Delivery of Aug 26-Aug 30 here in NW FL. I could open an "Item Not Received" case (and win) on Aug 31 if I did not receive it by then.
If you have an item with a long lead time like that, your handling time needs to be 2 weeks.
Same thing with the "Heart of Darkness" amulet. Change the handling time.

As to the subject at hand ... I agree that the label isn't being calculated correctly.
When you print the label, you need to select "Large Package" as the package type and enter the dimensions correctly.

First off, to anyone who gave advice to the listings- thank you! I'll change some stuff up.
As for the box size not being big enough for the painting, youd be suprised how many times I can wrap the painting in bubble wrap and still fit it in the package (about 7 times around) :). It sounds like not a lot of room, but it is packed very securely. Here is exactly what I selected.
"USPS Priority Mail- Thick Envelope/Large package"
"Dimensions: "37x26x1""
"Weight: 4 lbs 5 oz"
Also, no one has really answered my question yet- why was I given a discount of 70%? That's why it was only 9 dollars AFER the discount.
Any more answers?
"Package/Thick Envelope" is a regular sized package. The next selection down in the menu is "Large Package".
It's not a discount ... the $9 is the regular Comm Base Rate for a regular sized package ... The calculator is not charging you the balloon rate 😞
Bubble wrap is not protection against bending and creasing or punctures, which is a big possibility with long, flat packages.

Because eBay failed to factor-in the actual package dimensions.
Try running it again but checking off regular package, not Large package.
Also, 7 times around with bubblewrap sounds like a lot more than an inch thick.

Do not have an answer which is why I would bring it to the Post Office and have them figure it out for you.
The last thing you want to do is send your buyer a package with postage due.

The buyer will receive it and the OP will be charged.
