Ebay scamming sellers by partnering with scammers! Ebay enables buyer to return items by automatic approval of return which charges the sellers for return cost, even whet it clearly states return shipping is paid by buyer! if questioned ebay charges the seller's credit card and keeps the final value fee, that way they make thier money while sellers lose theirs

eBay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) requires the seller to pay for all shipping costs if the buyer claims that the item sold is not as described (SNAD / INAD). It does not matter whether or not the item is described properly ... it only matters what the buyer claims.
And, you are correct. If you challenge the buyer's claim, then you have an extremely high probability of being punished by eBay with loss of Final Value Fees and a seller defect.
I have had my SNAD claims skyrocket over the past year since eBay began with this posture, because buyers are increasingly discovering that they can get free return shipping by being dishonest about the condition of the item ... and, there is no consequence on the buyer.

Thats Ok I was told by CS to use free returns that way the customer won't lie about the return. Makes sense to ebay!

Yep, but they still lie ... particularly if you charge shipping for the item. By lying to claim a SNAD, they get a full refund of their purchase price plus shipping.

I've never had a problem, I don't take returns, and I don't claim or promise anything about my items in the description. If you do this and take detailed pictures of your items you will have the minimum of this type of problems the occasional problem buyer in which case you take the return and refund then permanently block. Good luck selling!

JMO, but you have been lucky.
Not accepting returns is not going to prevent a scammer from damaging the item, filing snad, and returning it anyway.
I used to have no returns. A buyer lied.
I now have free returns. A buyer lied.
IMO, it does not make a difference. A happy buyer is not going to return something whether or not you have a return policy. And a scammer is going to find a reason to return it whether or not you have one.

I understand the return process and mbg. I have been selling on ebay since 1999. I started the return and money back long before ebay did without any problem. Now ebay finds a way to make money at seller's cost. Ebay guaranties something that is not eBay's. That is the problem with eBay's rules. By auto return policy, buyer is not responsible for anything. Buyers do not properly pack the items and when it gets damaged, Ebay ignores the problem. Ebay has this phony appeal process. As soon as it is appealed, it is decided against the seller without asking for any picture or documents. That is the scam. Ebay rejects the appeal, because, it is in eBay's interest, Ebay and Paypal can keep the fees. I have received items back, because buyer claimed does not work. I tested and was working perfectly, re listed again and sold on ebay under the same condition and term without any problem. That is not the case when items returned damaged or in some case the item switched with different item. That is another issue that Ebay ignores for self interest.

OK ... but what you are describing is (at this point) old news ...

Yes. But, the retail industry does not call it a scam. It is simply a lenient (or liberal) returns policy ... eBay has made three things crystal clear to sellers during 2018:
It is in eBay's best interests to have a lenient returns policy because it costs them absolutely nothing (it costs sellers). Such a policy benefits eBay because it increases transactions ... which earns them money.

Just had a good one I sold a customer a slip ring for his alternator I just got a return request for the slip ring but in the buyers remarks he said the radiator I sold him had a hole in it and wanted a full refund because he had to buy one locally. I wrote back what radiator ? I sold you a slip ring for your alternator. Stll waiting for a response. Called CS they told me that the slip ring I sold the customer was past the 30 day return and just to forget it. Are customers that bad off they cant even look at there purchases and get the correct seller ??

We just had a buyer write and say he had bought a switch a 'while ago', maybe from us, and it was defective. He didn't have time for the return policy (in all caps), so could he just purchase a new one, we'd ship 2-3 day delivery and he'd pay the difference in shipping (would have been "free" otherwise). Took him all day, but he did buy the switch and pay the shipping invoice.
Kicker is - the switch that he bought from us a couple weeks ago that was supposedly defective? It was slightly different than the one he just bought. When I pointed it out (not snarky, was just curious if he realized), crickets. So I'm thinking it's a good thing he "didn't have time for the return policy". With eBay's lack of attention to detail, we'd have had to refund plus shipping even though there was nothing whatsoever wrong with the item except for user error!

You're absolutely right on this my friend. Makes me wonder sometimes... why are we still here?
