Ebay's Policy re Libel

Ebay's policy on feedback does not prevent a person from making libelous statements. It is time that Ebay took a more positive stance

@cashvaluerecovery2011

Like most sellers I list almost exclusively as Fixed Price.

I can't see my customer's Feedback until she buys.

Only about 15% of listings are in the dying Auction format, and most of those have Buy It Now options.

When a customer uses the Buy It Now, the seller cannot see her FB until she buys.

When a customer snipes an auction, the seller does not have time to see her FB until she buys.

The only ones who can read FB are future customers of the seller.

And what happens if that customer sees angry rude (or even calm and factual) negatives being left for customer after customer?

A non-paying customer gets a Strike.

Most sellers now have an automatic Block against those deadbeats.

No need to check out the customer, it being done for you.

Or bad feedback for buyers would create a bad buyer experience which would cause buyers to not buy costing ebay revenue

This is a user to user board not eBay employees.

OP!  Judging by your feedback left for others you seem to be having more than your fair share of issues.  I would suggest that you might wish to be a bit more selective in picking your sellers.  The amount of negative feedback you have left might cause more than a few sellers to not want to do business with you.

WOW, took a peek. Interesting someone such as the OP could start a topic such as this.

I think the feedback they're referring to is a seller's reply to a neg they left as a buyer. The seller called them a deceitful liar for changing their story.

The OP has certainly had a lot of problematic transactions.

Re: Ebay's Policy re Libel

Strikes for non paying buyers are invisible. Just like ebay metrics for sellers. Maybe they are real maybe they arent. Sellers have zero control. Buyers have a lot.

I totally understand how fixed priced listings work and buy it now buyers feedback only being seen after purchase.......but you are missing the impacts that i use now and used years ago. Today with best offers i get to see a buyers feedback left before choosing to accept or counter or deny. Its not much but i dont wont to sell to a pro neg leaver. If i were to sell an expensive item today buy it now and could see other sellers said they scammed them i would be able to cancel the purchase safely. That is how it use to work. That is why i sold 5+ figure diamonds and watches here. Now i have no way of knowing who i am selling to. And 100% certain ebay will side with a brand new zero feedback buyer over me when they return dirt instead of my diamond ring.
This is why i and 1000s of others no longer sell high end here. No way to vet a buyer but buyers can vet us. If sellers could vet buyers and had some protection the seller pool wouldnt continue to deteriorate and the river would not gain more market share. I am living proof of this fact and i am far from alone. Ebay was my one and only. Sold a ton. Made a ton. Paid a ton of fees. Was very happy. Now ebay is my last resort to offload random stuff. My high end items sell just as well but elsewhere. My volume business that use to be here is elsewhere. It would still be here and part of the reasons it is not is listed above. Not sure how to help more than explain how who where and why lol.

Re: Ebay's Policy re Libel

And bad buyers would leave. That was my point. Evay doesnt want bad buyers to leave. Because its seller who pays for it. Think about what you are saying. Why would a seller leave a negative to a buyer and risk making them not want to buy from them again? Non paying? Scam return? If this is true then see ya later. I dont want that buyer and thanks for the heads up. If its not warranted its the dumbest seller on the planet who is throwing away money. I would bet my leg that there ate very few sellers dumb enough to run off a good buyer and a pile of bad buyers and scammers that LOVE buying here with no repurcussions like sellets able to warn others.

Re: Ebay's Policy re Libel

Good buyers leave too. I got my one and only negative as buyer or seller when I left a neg for a scamming seller. I got one right back that I did not deserve. This behavior was rampant back when seller could neg buyers.

There are plenty of bad sellers out there who would leave scathing negs for good buyers in a heartbeat. People need to stop assuming only good people would use an option. Bad people can use and abuse feedback too.

But bad buyers would not leave. They would just take 30 seconds to get new Gmail address and create a new eBay account.

So a good buyer who is intentionally defrauded by a bad seller,

can accurately warn others????

In my opinion, a good buyer can warn others in feedback without bullying.

Name-calling is bullying and a direct attack used by inarticulate persons. Anywhere.

Negative feedback is all unsubstantiated hearsay, and can be abused by anyone and cannot be proven as fact.
