I had a buyer purchase some Costa sunglasses and return them saying they had faint lines in the lens and are defective. I sent him another of the same pair and he claimed they were defective too. I explained polarized lines and how they are suppose to be there, I have free returns but ebay said I didn't have to pay for the 2nd return because there was no real defect. The buyer figured I should still have to pay the returns so he got mad an opened a case. Ebay closed it in my favor, done deal right? nope. Next thing I know I see in my account that money was taken out of my account and given to the buyer. I did not receive any message in my ebay email, my personal email or in my junk folder stating ebay had reversed the case and taken the money back. This is the 2nd time (that I know of) ebay has done this reversing closed cases and taking money from my account without any attempt to inform me. When I called about the first time this happened they assured me there must have been a mistake but they couldn't find any message to me about it so they said there must have been some glitch, 2 months later that glitch still isn't fixed. Sounds convenient. I've been selling on ebay for 10 years full time, this seems illegal, unethical and is infuriating to me. Customer support doesn't seem to think it's a big deal. Buyer still has the sunglasses and the money, and now as a added bonus he opened up a case with his credit card because the money ebay sent him was in a the form of a regular payment and not a refund he is attempting to get a refund as well.

While I completely agree this is a very important issue that needs to be addressed and a resolution in short order. May I ask why you aren't running any listings right now? Did you stop running listings because of this issue?
I do hope you will come to the Chat that starts in an hour and bring this to Ebay's attention there. You may find it very useful.

Hello, I am a Buyer of some items and had an issue. ie the ordered items did not arrive and therefore I raised a refund request. So far so good BUT compared to the original purchase costs, including Int. Shipping, the neventual refunds were only 50% thereof. eBay since of course cannot see the difference and insisted that since refund was made the case cannot be reopened and thus wash their hands of any further actions.
The main issue I have is that there is seemingly no way one can actually dispute the "dispute", or complain.
According to eBay when I raised the refund request I only added a "1" into the respective field which in my view was regarding the one order placed and not one of 2 items under this order No.
I mean if one orderes 10 widgets at x price each and it is not received a refund of one widget value will close the case. It is wrong!!

No, you are wrong. You need to state the QUANTITY NOT RECEIVED
to get a refund for that multiple of the unit price.
