Ebay refunds buyer even though package has a valid tracking number and it's in transit with FedEx.

I just had a buyer apeal my decision to not accept a return because the item was still in transit to them and I don't accept all returns. She said her kid hit the paypal button by accident. she bought it and didn't start the return until 3 days after purchase. It's a $1000 item by the way. As soon as they appealed it, ebay sided with the buyer and refunded the $1000. I shipped it out within 2 days ( my handling is 3 days), used ebay to print the label. I did everything right and now have to sit in anxiety all day worrying that ebay won't give me my item or money back. I'm lost...

RIGHT NOW, this very instant, contact Fedex and do a package reroute or recall back to yourself. I think you can do this with Fedex, someone eles would know better.

Hopefully you used your own Fedex account. If you used Ebay's Fedex I don't know if this will work. 😞

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

What reason did they buyer give for the return?  Did you have signature confirmation on the parcel? Are you sure the buyer was already refunded, or is the money on hold?

I'm kind of curious...

Why didn't you accept the return?

Think this way.

I have a sense of humor, if a buyer opens a return before my item arrives at their house I accept it mostly because I think that is the most hysterical thing to do... I am always looking to test the code, see what exactly ebay does when presented with a specific set of circumstances.

On a note I hope it trips something the wrong way so the whole shtick falls through, because I already know the outcome if I decline the return so I've really got nothing left to lose.

Try it, see things from the perspective of losing one way or another but knowing that one way you WILL lose so go the other and see what happens.

Take notes, so you can refer back to it later instead of calling a Customer Service that most often can't help you anyway.  Then use those notes to help you in future decision making when faced with another return.

This is confusing. They bought the item on Dec 3? I see three sales on that day, all for the gaming thing for nearly a thousand dollars a pop. If that is the case, then it is too soon for them to open an Item Not Received case based on what you have said. How did they get a refund before the estimated delivery date was past? Or was this for another item on another day?

Re: Ebay refunds buyer even though package has a valid tracking number and it's in transit with FedE

I have ran into this myself. I have had a few times where the buyer was able to open a return for an item not received even though it had not even reached the estimated delivery date. I even had it once be before I had to ship the item. I had a 10 day window on the item because I was waiting for more to come in.

I had another time where the item had not even shipped yet and it was still within in my shipment aka handling window. In this case, I had to take a ding for not shipping the item on time even though a return was opened for an item not received and the customer received there money back. No amount of complaining at eBay could get them to remove this ding even though it should not have happened in the first place. How can a buyer open a return up for an reason when it hasn't even hit the date I had to ship it by. I could have accepted the return and not shipped the item or ship the item the date it was suppose to of and open a claim with eBays system with the buyer loosing because they received the item or it was still in transit and had not hit the estimated delivery date. THIS IS REALLY STUPID!

eBay system is really messed up at times. This may have been one of those cases.

Lesson #1 I tell everyone: DON'T SELL ANYTHING YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO BE SCAMMED OUT OF.

Lesson #2 I tell everyone: THERES NO SUCH THING AS NO RETURNS.

Lesson #3 I tell everyone: Should've read lessons 1 and 2.

Re: Ebay refunds buyer even though package has a valid tracking number and it's in transit with FedE

Yes but I have had this happen. eBay system has issues with this. I have had a customer open a return for an item not received or any other reason, even thought it had not hit my ship by or handing date. It creates a return that will add a ding to the sellers account for not shipping on time when why would the seller ship an item if they have refunded the customer. No amount of yelling can get this to be removed.

I simply don't get it because a customer should not be able to open a return for an item not received if it has not hit past the estimated delivery date. It doesn't happen very often but it does.

You could run into a situation where the seller accepts the return and issues a label but the buyer doesn't ship the item back because they don't have it yet. Which means the buyer looses the case because they never returned the item on time. This could easily happen if the buyer states they no longer want the item or item not as described. I had had this happen as well with some returns.

The system is messed up with this and no one seems to care to even correct it.

It's not "Item Not Received."

The buyer opened a return, probably "Item Not As Described"

The seller declined it, the buyer escalated and won.

Since no return of the OP this is the highest probability:

Again should not even be able to be done due to item has yet to arrive.

Yet one could, if after the estimated delivery date file an item not received claim: if the tracking does not show movement or the seller did not contact eBay for an extension then eBay would have also found for the buyer.
