An Ebayer doesn't think I am selling a legitimate item. So they have threatened to tell my buyer that what I am selling is fake so they will return it....

Hi @kato1940
-Add that member to your Blocked list on this page: Buyer Management | eBay
-No other member has access to your account or can see who your customers are.

How would they contact your buyer?
Your buyer's ID won't be visible to them, but I suppose they could get it after the fact if mutual feedback is left for the transaction. Would they go to the trouble?
Better question: Are you sure your item is authentic?

Fortunately the eBay member is blowing smoke. Since your eBay buyers IDs are all masked to anyone but you there's no way of anyone knowing what their true IDs are.
Block the eBayer making threats and report them.
You can do both from the message you received. Then delete the message.

eBay masks buyers IDs regardless of feedback exchange.

I've been able to determine buyer IDs by matching up mutual feedback. It's jumping through a hoop, but not impossible.

There is no way for that member to contact another member via an auction or a listing. All ID's are not complete for reasons like you stated. Years ago they could have contacted another member, but those days are long gone. They're just making a threat they can't follow thru with. Don't let it ruin your day. Block this person and move on.
Good luck & Happy Selling

Even Ebay accuses people of selling fake items when they are not. We live in a finger pointing society. Luckily there are now safeguards where ids are masked and contact is only allowed through ebay messages. That's at least some protection.

Sounds more like sour grapes. Maybe someone bought it before he could get to it or he was outbid in an auction. As others have already said - his threat is nonsense.
I get those occasionally in my selling account. One guy who lost out on an auction sent me an overheated message saying that his bid (which never showed up) was supposed to be the winner AND he had already been on the phone to Ebay about it AND they were launching an investigation (!) AND I was instructed to hold the item until they could 'correct' the auction to make him the winner. Ummm... no.

How does he plan to contact that buyer since all that is shown to him is the buyer's eBay ID?
