Ebay is telling my buyers that I do not ship to their zip code.

Ebay is telling my buyers of one item that I do not ship to their zip code, two buyers same listing.

The item number is 352467193274.

I cannot find anything wrong with the listing.

One customer is from Fla and one from Texas.

Hi @handytooling, it looks like in both of the recent examples the buyer's shipping address contains the +4 zip code, which may be causing an issue. Sometimes these are not formatted correctly by the buyer, or they conflict with the shipping service selected. I recommend you instruct buyers receiving this message to change their shipping address to only the 5 digits that are required, as the +4 is unnecessary. This should fix the problem, but keep me posted if you run into further issues!

It would be a whole lot better if eBay actually verified the zip code info when the user enters an address in their profile.

To say the +4 is unnecessary is technically correct but it sure doesn't help USPS perform a speedy delivery. Of course if a seller prints labels online they +4 is normally added to the label but if a seller buys postage at retail or uses stamps then USPS will need to manually sort the item which will cause delays in delivery.

Can we block specific ZIP codes?  I'd love to know how - goodbye, Delaware freight forwarders!

Interesting theory although my shipping addresses all use the +4 zip code and don't show that problem with the listing number here. You can see things we cannot see with the buyer addresses so is there anything unusual with what you saw? Missing plus sign? Was it just 9 digits in a row?

This might be off topic but I have to say also that that when the item for sale is a 5C Collet Rack Tray Drawer/Bench Storage Holder - I cannot understand why the OP would be using a Legal Flat Rate envelope to mail it in? That would have me hitting my Back button.

Hi @itsjustasprain, removing the additional 4 digits is just a troubleshooting suggestion. In general these shouldn't cause a problem and in fact, are helpful in some situations. Since I saw no other issue, I suggested the +4 removal for those specific buyers to see if this fixed the problem slight_smile

Ebay is telling my buyers that I do not ship to their zip code.

For the record, the original listing with the problem had been listed for years that way.  It is one of my best sellers.  So it is definitely a recent change on ebays end.

That being said it truly makes no sense for me to have chosen calculated shipping but then to have chosen Flat rate packaging.  I suppose I was hoping that "combined shipping" would work better.

My settings for calculated shipping were set up and looks ok.

I have removed calculated shipping from all of my items, so time will tell if it works.

Hi @handytooling, sorry if we've had a misunderstanding - the only advice I have provided is troubleshooting for your buyers in the event that they have incorrectly set up their address. This wouldn't have anything to do with how you have set up your listings, and wouldn't reflect a change on eBay's end. It sounds like this has cleared itself up at this point and I'm also happy to hear you got some valuable insight on your shipping options from this thread.

Trinton, I don't think the OP's issue was related to the zip code. Here is another thread about the same problem:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/USPS-Priority-Medium-Flat-Rate-shipping-option/m-p/29968276#M1443981

Here's another poster who confirmed the same problem:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Flat-rate-shipping/m-p/30002902#M1449038

Can you weigh in and let us know if this is an intentional change to the selection of flat rate packaging in the listing form or if this is a glitch?

GLORIOUS!

Check out the new inefficient Seller Hub 'All Filters' panel to see how much eBay disrespects sellers' time (click).

Hi @wastingtime101, this is not an intentional change, but instead an issue with either the way the buyer set up their address or a technical issue on our site. The details here have been passed on to our tech teams for review in case there is a problem to address and the advice provided previously to have the buyer remove the +4/review their address remains the recommendation if this comes up for any else.

Apologies, but I am having a really hard time getting my brain around the fact that eBay expects buyers to troubleshoot eBay's faulty software.

If the buyer somehow "incorrectly" entered their address, shouldn't there be automatic prompts that help the buyer correct that straight off?

This isn't the first time this issue has popped up, nor the second, third, or fourth. This seems to be another one of those re-occurring "eBay Exclusive" glitches that is never permanently fixed. I've gone through this myself in the past where one day things work, the next I need to "enter a valid ZIP code", and the following day it's just fine again... same address and details I've had registered with eBay since 2004.

At least the glitch of reverting back to previous decades- old addresses, even when removed, without warning seems to finally be gone.

Chaos is NOT an "industry standard".

ZIP +4 has been around since 1983- that's thirty- six years.  From your photo, you look like a young guy to this codger so maybe it even predates you... but this "software company" called eBay can't deal?

No where else on the Internet has these roadblocks to buying. I even buy on small classic automotive specialty sites in the EU and they handle addresses and ZIP codes just fine.

Maybe it's time for eBay to catch up with the early 1980s... just sayin' is all.
