Ebay is not accepting images in the .jpg format. Why?

So, I'm a pretty experienced seller and today, all of a sudden Ebay is refusing my .jpg images. The size is fine (2560 x 1920 pixels) but apparently i need a jpeg,  ping or heic suffix.  Short of altering mine all individually I can't see a way around it.

Any ideas gratefully received.  Thanks

Ebay is not accepting images in the .jpg format. Why?

.jpg and .jpeg both mean the smae thing (Joint Photographics Expert Group). The only difference is that newer versions of windows support 4 character extensions instead of just three which earlier systems (DOS for example) was limited to. The format is the same, so it's baffling. I've had some older software translate jpg into jpeg, but it's pretty unusual.

Just changing the extension yourself is easy, but it's a pain if you have a lot of images. I wonder of this is another of ebay's strange glitches, through three days is a long time.

@orangygirl

You can use this Adobe online tool to convert your jpgs to pngs.

This tool also works:  https://jpg2png.com/

(As far as I know, you can also rename the extension from .jpg to .jpeg... )

Yeah, was trying to avoid that.  They've always worked before.  Last time was 15th Nov.

Thanks anyway.

I have no problem uploading jpgs (just tried it). Are you sure it wasn't just a temporary glitch?

Ebay is not accepting images in the .jpg format. Why?

It may not be the extension, but rather the size requirements. eBay doesn't allow much room for error.

Mine are also about that size, have a *.jpg extension, and I've seen no problems at all.

What is your image file size? (i.e. Not the dimensions, but the size of the JPG file itself. Mine are typically about 1.5Mb each.)

When Something Bad happens, what does the error message say, and where are you in the upload procedure?

Ebay is not accepting images in the .jpg format. Why?

I uploaded jpg files to my new listings today using Firefox.

The problem is likely to be on your system.

I am having that issue right now.  I tried suggestions below and nothing I saw worked.

Then I figured out what worked for me.

I was creating a variation listing, the first time I have done that, and I was trying to upload essentially a cover photo that is a collage of all the variations.  I was not able to upload in the location we normally upload in a single listing; I had to go to the variation portion of the listing and upload the collage as a default photo. That made the photo the first photo shown in the listing and then when the buyer selects a variation it shows the picture for that item.  I did not have any issues uploading the viriation photos.

Maybe you were doing the same thing?

Well, Ebay is accepting them now, so I expect you're right...just another pain in the bum glitch.

I can confirm what weirdcardoutlet posted.  I was also creating a listing with variations and was unable to upload JPG pics on the top part of the screen but when I went to the variation section I was then able to upload JPG pics.
