Ebay collecting tax

I'm trying to get clarification on the tax policy.  Do we need to file taxes for all items shipped to our home state? Before,  we had to add up all sales for anything shipped to our state to report and pay the taxes. I'm seeing that Ebay is now collecting tax for most purchases in my state but not every one.

When I file with my state (VA), do I just put zero or do I need to add all orders up that shipped to VA and then pay the taxes again?

Re: Ebay collecting tax

Are you registered with your state to collect and remit sales taxes?

Check on your state website for the procedure to doing this - I can only say that in Washington we mark the total amount of in-state sales taxed in marketplaces as a deduction as a specific line item.  In my case this results in 0 state tax owed because it has already been paid in the four sites I sell on.  But each state is different.  You don't need to repay taxes if that has already been done.

ETA: tried to clarify.

Re: Ebay collecting tax

eBay collects and remits the sales tax to the buyer's state. If you were collecting sales tax for eBay sales to your state (Virginia),  you no longer have to. Bay began collecting and remitting July 1, 2019.
