Ebay can't attach certain bank account numbers?

I called ebay twice and my bank account can't be attached to my account because "ebay system might not recognize it as a legitimate full account". The reasoning I was given was it doesn't have 8-12 digits, with mine being 17 digits. They didn't seem to be very sure, and I find this weird considering I use it for everything else and only have trouble on this site.

I wonder if anyone else has had issues attaching a bank account and did they have to create a new checking account at a new bank to get the issue solved?

You don't have to create another time consuming bank account.  Why not apply for a Walmart Money Debit Card.? I have used one for many years and it is accepted as a bank account with routing and account numbers just like the bank provides.  You can order on it on-line and there is a small monthly fee if you have less than $500 worth of deposits.  It's like $5.00.

Use it solely for your Ebay transactions, that's what I do anyway.  Easier to keep track of things.

Oh I didn't know that was a thing! I appreciate that, was about to just go to another seller platform. This sounds much easier, I wasn't planning on opening a new account. I will take that advice.

Oh hahaha the fees are very high monthly, I don't plan on selling big time. Just my small collection. I will look more into this avenue though to avoid opening a new account

This happened to me too with my BofA account... I tried adding a zero before the first number of the account. Still got the error... Then I tried adding two zeros before the account number, and it worked! Hope this helps

@monawill27 You're over 2 years too late responding to this thread from 2022. I am sure the OP has resolved their issue by now.
