Ebay advertisings on Google

Facts: 46% of all shoppers start their search in Google.  We pay Ebay higher fees and ad rates than most platforms specifically to push us into Google ad spots and listing scans.  Nearly ZERO ( or I will guess 1 in 1000) search hits on Google are an actual eBay item.  Every other Shopify, Etsy, Mercari, Bonanza, etc listing shows up even if it is a sub-standard listing with dim lighting, no whiteout backs, minimal 13 attribute tags,  etc. That means eBay is losing MASSIVE market share for both themselves and their sellers. And for being the 2nd best and largest established marketplace in the world..  I am beyond disbelief. WHY can't we get this right?  and fast.. as we sellers are hemmoraging 60% lost sales and eBay is driving its own sellers elsewhere to get any exposure.   I am a 15 year seller and would love to see eBay have an astounding sales revival...wipe the competition out...protect its sellers..send the stock price soring...we love the platform...just please get us a return on our ad fees!  Fix the attribute compatibility so Google can find us.

About 25% of my impressions are non-search impressions.

My store views do not come close to explaining them, so I suspect they come from search engines.

The tracked data from the search engines being as it is, I suspect you see more from the dwarf marketplaces because you visit them.

I rarely see listings or ads for other than Ebay, Amazon and direct websites.

your non search impressions are most likely not from off site.. but rather your listing showing up in others people's EBay listing underneath their descriptions where Ebay promotes "you may also like these".

Ebay advertisings on Google

I just googled a vinyl record from my fave early 00s guilty pleasure:

- 1st and 2nd results were the clear and the black vinyl pressings on the artist’s website. Fair.

- 3rd was the release page of the album on Discogs. Since I specifically searched for vinyl, this makes sense to me.

- Then eBay, Discogs, eBay, Discogs, Vinyl Exchange. Not bad altogether.

Then I searched for the Deadwood box set on Blu-ray.

- 1st and 2nd results were Amazon, which I expected, then 2

eBay, before Walmart, a local store and Best Buy. Not too shabby either.

After that, I searched for 2.5 Rico clarinet reeds. No eBay results in the 1st 2 pages.

Switch to search for a Lip Service dress, first result was the Lip Service website followed by a mix of eBay and Poshmark, with eBay being featured 2 to 1.

Finally searched for Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii and the top sponsored result was eBay, followed by Amazon, GameStop, then a couple more eBay listings.

I realize not everyone searches for the same items, but I have to say, except for woodwind instruments accessories, eBay didn’t perform too bad for me on Google.

In the chart that follows, the dark blue lower portion of the bar are page views from a Google search. The lighter blue upper part are page views from an eBay search. Statistically, slightly over 60% of my page views come Google.

Your statement that “Nearly ZERO ( or I will guess 1 in 1000) search hits on Google are an actual eBay item.” is clearly false.

Once you are beyond disbelief, you can make a U-turn by getting off at the next exit.  Take the first exit you come to in the opposite direction, and you should be back at disbelief.

interesting.  my chart used to look like that.  now it doesnt.  I see you are not paying for promotions and still getting those offsite numbers.  I, on the other hand am promoting all, which should increase my offsite hits.  Instead..my listings cant be found on google.. but nor can many other sellers.  Google "talavera pottery planter"..to which their should be hundreds from Ebay .  You might find 1 or 2 at max. Apparently our category is ghosted...despite free ship. free return, etc.
