Ebay Switching from PayPal to Direct Payments using Bank Accounts?? RIDICULOUS!!!!

OK, Is this for real? Ebay seems to be ditching Paypal for sellers and wanting to use my Bank Account to manage payments. Ebay wants my Bank Account information???  Forget IT Ebay!!! I am NOT (repeat NOT) giving you my Bank account info to manage my payments!!   I have been perfectly happy with payments being made thru Paypal over the years and if ebay cannot continue this then I will move to another platform.

Please respond if you are in agreement!

The devil is in the details.

Ebay provides no support for record keeping, really just another horrible solution like all eBay's decisions.

How can we fleece our sellers for more since we do not have the business acuity to grow our business.

Covid was a blessing for eBay, but the core incompetence of not being able to effectively grow an electronic flea market remains.

Nothing new here, today need to figure out how much sales tax I paid with  580 transactions.

Ebay what you don't want to pay tax on that?

From glichee horrible software, to not being able to grow their business in the greatest growth period in a generation, in a booming sector of the economy, (Prior to Covid and the Biden disaster).  Six quarters of basically flat sales, earning went up since they can always fleece their chump sellers a little more.

Um didn't PayPal require you to provide a bank acct # in order to do anything through PayPal? So what's the difference? And whoever was all freaked out about giving your SS#, PayPal required that too.

Not everyone had to provide a SSN to Paypal, and PP never required anyone to have a bank account linked. Many folks used it simply as a digital wallet to buy/sell from, never transferring funds elsewhere.

How is this conversion going? Ebay told me over a year ago to stop using Paypal when I sold stuff. I don't sell a lot, so I quit selling until I could see how this worked out. I do buy stuff regularly. So far with around 150 purchases, every one required Paypal in the same manner as previously. And I don't think I have seen a single listing in my thousands of searches that used any payment system but Paypal. I have felt like I am the only one that Ebay told to stop using Paypal. I have a number of things backed up that I would like to list, but I am concerned that there would be few or no buyers if I do not use Paypal.

Paypal is for buyers to pay only, and will be available on every listing as a PAYMENT option, a seller, however must be registered on managed payments as they can not receive funds from ebay via paypal any longer.

MP has made no difference to buyers other than giving you an additional payment method 'G Pay'

I think I see what you are saying.  In effect, the payment from buyer to seller consists of two transactions, the buyer paying Ebay (often using Paypal) and Ebay paying the seller (no longer allowing Paypal).  Was it always this way (two transactions)?  I had thought that previously payment was a single transaction between me and the buyer through Paypal alone and that Ebay was just notified that the payment was complete.  Maybe I had it wrong all along, thinking that it was only one transaction (which led to my confusion).  If this is the case, my error was not obvious to me until now.  Ebay's communications certainly did not help me to understand this.

As is the OP who loudly announced that they were leaving but of course got over it and has 98 listings up as of right now.

I think it might be time to close out this necro-thread.

Another hypocritical seller. This post was from April. Guess they gave ebay their banking info, as they have about 100 items listed!! They all come here ranting and raving that they'll leave, yet they stay!!

You do realize that every time you've written a check you have given away your bank, your routing number, account number and a sample of your signature. Right?  If you're like most of us you've also given your address and phone number.

Of course, you've given all the information being asked for by Managed Payments to PayPal years ago as well.  They would have needed it to comply with IRS regulations.
