Ebay Search With Photo Feature

Does anyone know why we can no longer search by taking a picture? The little camera icon is missing from the search line and I need it back! Any news?

I know about google picture search, but this is Ebay. When I shop Ebay I only use Ebay. My recommendation is never use google for Ebay shopping.

I was talking about selling not buying

Best option is to use the bar code reader selling/buying

or old school and just type item in as some items do not have barcodes or current listing did not enter barcode and just put "does not apply"

I tend to agree. Google's search has different priorities than eBay's search, so searching with Google will give higher ranking to pages that have been around a while and have lots of other pages pointing to them -- which may not be what you want if you are looking for newly listed items rather than older, ended ones.

But specifically for image search purposes, using something like Google Lens or Google's image search feature (or Bing's image search, or TinEye) can allow you to identify an item from a picture. Once you have obtained the proper name, you can then search eBay directly by keyword.

Having the image search built-in to the eBay app just made the process much easier to go directly from image to eBay listings without extra steps, at least when it was still available and working.

The last updates about eBay's image search feature can be found here:

Not much in the way of updates since December -- there is a link to a side-thread from January with some details of why the feature was removed, but minimal new info after that about when it might return.
