Ebay Provided Delivery Date SAME as Ship By Date!

After 25 years, this is a new one even for me. LOL

Item sold: 1/22/2025 for $8.85 + $4.85 shipping

Shipping Method as indicated in listing: USPS Ground Advantage

Handling Time indicated in listing: 2 Days (in practice I ship 99% of all items the same or next day mailing day, but I prefer to build in a small buffer in case of weather, emergencies, and so on, hence 2 days handling)

Item is traveling 1200 miles from Connecticut to Florida.

So the item sells on the 22nd, which means that I have until the 24th to ship the item and be on time, and yet under order details it states that the buyer was given an estimated delivery window of Jan 24, 2025 through Jan 27, 2025.

Ebay provided a customer 1200 miles away a "delivery window" which actually INCLUDED the day by which I was only required to have shipped it! ROFL

As a consequence and to no surprise, this person (3 feedbacks) has already been allowed to open an INR even though the tracking is:

They're actually upset and complaining in the notes of the INR because the USPS tracking didn't show movement on the 25th or 26th, which was a Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The estimated delivery window provided to buyers in past years was always aspirational at best, but this has reached a new level. Apparently now I'm expected to have Star Trek transporter technology. Welcome to the world of AI.

Just like you, it happens to me all the time because of my "historical" shipping time. Actually, they often show the estimate 1-2 days before "ship by". (I have a longer handling time)

Re: Ebay Provided Delivery Date SAME as Ship By Date!

Wow, you got me beat! It hadn't occurred to me that they could indicate a delivery window that preceded the ship by date. Clearly I didn't have my expectations low enough. LOL

I didn't think to set phasers to dumb.

Incidentally, I'm not that concerned about problem resolution itself. It will likely be delivered before my "respond to by" date, and if not, I'll deal with it within the required time since of course one should never fail to respond by the specified date, but we're into spaceballs ludicrous territory now.

Been a bone of contention with sellers for a long time. Any complaints fall on deaf ears. eBay is helping us.

My handling time is set to allow for unforeseen issues on my end, and so far (knock on wood) has not caused any buyer problems.

Yup, inputting the tracking # to the claim should hold you over.

Here is an example of eBay helping me:

Re: Ebay Provided Delivery Date SAME as Ship By Date!

Some people got that weird shipping time a week ago also.

I had it I think for one day on my items up for sale and then it suddenly went back to my normal shipping time.

My favorite seller from New Jersey has 'receive in 3 days' on a few of his items...not all of them still to this day.

New Jersey to San Francisco in 3 days.

Of course, I made a purchase with the seller and knew it wouldn't come that quickly.

Re: Ebay Provided Delivery Date SAME as Ship By Date!

it's a well-known fact that the Florida Seminole-Orlando post office distribution center is the worst center in the entire postal service and the Post Office knows it and don't care. Just type in Seminole-Orlando in a google search and there will be 10,000 complaints about this place. we order several items either for personal use or our business here in central Florida and when a package ends up at Seminole-Orlando, 9 times out of 10 it will be there for 4 to 5 days providing they don't lose it which has happened a few times. Tracking will show it has arrived at S/O (Seminole-Orlando), then left S/O, then arriving again a day later, then leaving the next day and then arriving for a 3rd, 4th, and sometimes a 5th time at Seminole-Orlando before it makes it way to the next destination. It always takes a minimum of arriving and leaving 3 times. Weve had packages arrive there and just disappear (obviously they have a theft problem there), and when you file a lost package claim they just ignore it and never gets investigated. And the finale complaint is if your lucky enough to actually receive your package from this center it usually damaged, crushed, torn open or somewhat mutilated to some extent. Even our local politicians are aware of this issue but seem powerless to do anything about it. I recommend, any package going to or leaving the central Florida area to use UPS or Fed-ex if you want it to get there safely.

We ship through that facility exclusively because we're local to it, and have no issues with USPS packages going through Seminole-Orlando.
