Ebay-PayPal holding my money for two weeks illegally.

Recently I have been liquidating my life collection of photography equipment. I noticed that after a sale the funds were on hold. I thought the buyer was having trouble but no, PayPal was holding the money totaling $7000. I spent 5 hours on the phone being told to try a new browser and such nonsense. Finally, the 4th person I talked to said it was my items over $1000 that put a hold on all my money. Even after my buyer received a $1600 camera ((13 days)) later that money is still frozen. Paypal told me to ask the camera, my buyer, to leave a review stating he got it. Well, he did that for me but my stolen money is still unaccessible. PayPay is a Black Hat business and thousands of people like me have been bullied and ripped-off by them. Thank you, Tim

1. Are you a new seller, subject to holds as a matter of course?

2. Did you use signature confirmation, which is required on items over $750?

By the way, take “authentic” out of the title of your beach glass necklace (no one searches using that word), and replace it with “seapunk.” That’s a subculture that leans towards aquatic-type fashion.

I don't think it's illegal but certainly frustrating.
I think that the reason might be #4 or #5 in this paypal link.

Why could your funds be temporarily unavailable?

There is also things you can do to get the funds released sooner, on that page.

Being told by CS to try a different browser (as if it were a glitch) to release funds sooner, is indicative of a poorly trained or apathetic customer service employee. So ridiculous!

Also this;

"2. If a buyer pays you and the payment isn’t immediately available, we’ll notify you via an email titled “An important message about your PayPal balance” or via an alert in your Account Overview page. This email or alert will be the best source of information about why your payment isn’t available and what you may be able to do to prevent the delay of available funds in the future."

Did they send such an email?

The funds will be released soon.

They may be holding your money, but it is not illegal.

It appears that you recently returned to selling after some time away from Ebay.  That is why the money was on hold in PP.  It is a rule that Ebay has.  Below is a link that should help you better understand this process and how to get your funds released.

I might add that when you contact PP, hopefully it isn't with the same anger that you are showing here.  That won't help your situation at all.  I absolutely respect that you want your money released, but keep that goal in mind when you talk with them.  You want them to want to work with you, not just get you off the phone.

Ebay-PayPal holding my money for two weeks illegally.

people have been down this road for years

lots of conspiracy theories out there

I can tell you this much

paypal does not reap much  benefit from the hold

in fact there is no interest on all of this money from millions of people

it does not exist..............it is simply bad info

most peope rarely have to deal with paypal anyway

the problems that really irk people all start with ebay

many people spend hours on the phone with ebay but little time with paypal

it is designed that way and I have to say,it works for me

if you are getting bad news in your email

chances are its from ebay

the suggestion that was made by you goes against the spirit of the community

the community here wants to be inclusive

its is always recomended that members stick around rather that leave

It most commonly comes from new sellers that haven't reviewed the policies before starting to sell on Ebay.  They learn the rules by SURPRISE and experience.  Instead of doing their homework to at the very least learn the basics first.

If you have slow sales for low dollar amounts and suddenly sell $7000 worth of items your money will be held. Paypal is looking at this as a possible scam.

Looks like you also canceled a transaction recently, depending on which option you used, you probably got a serious defect for that, that also comes into play with your hold. You can check that in your dashboard.
