In May ebay informed all sellers that we would no longer receive our payouts thru paypal. Told us it would save us money. "That did not happen." Thru paypal our payouts were subjected to a 4.5% fee. NOW with ebay they increased our fees 12.55% on most items PLUS a .30 final fee which was not charged before. So now we lose 12.55% on EVERY sale PLUS the same discount on postage we charge AND then they add in the states sales tax to our total and deduct those fees from us also. I understand the percentage deduction from the price of the item, BUT sellers charge postage rates to help DEFER their costs. Ebay has no right to take of share of that monies. Big corporate GReedbay has hit sellers. I will take paypal payouts any day over the mess Greedbay created. I used to receive my payouts from paypal in 24 hours NOW through Greedbay it takes up to 4 days. I have had good sales on Ebay through the last 20 years I have been selling. Now however with Greedbay I am looking at other options.

As to the fees.

With PayPal: PP 2.9% + .30c/ eBay 10%. for a total of 12.90%+. 30c

Now with MP: PP 0% eBay 12.55% + .30c

In June I was informed by paypal of the 20% rise in fees for using the services starting in August

the small fee that is levied on most transactions is also rising 60%

paypal transactions do not cover items purchased for resale

Ebay has been collecting a FVF on shipping for over 10 years and paypal charged a 30 cent transaction fee for years as well.

After reading your post it seems you did not have a firm handle of the total selling fees (eBay + PayPal) your were charge prior to Managed Payments.

They were -

1. eBay Final Value fees were 10% on the transaction amount - item & any shipping & handling charged. PayPal fees were 2.9% (not 4.5% you stated) plus that dreaded 30 cents, (also non refundable) for each transaction on the total amount the buyer paid (including any applicable state sales tax).

2. Plus eBay increased the number of free listings - for example non store members used to receive 50 free listing/month with manged payment it was increased to 100 - sounds like a money saver for sellers to me.

Your lack of understanding is where your confusion and resultant frustration resides.

Ebay MP fees are actually a fraction less than the combined Ebay and PayPal fees you had been paying. Did you know that with PayPal, Ebay still charged you 10% on top of PayPal's fees? And PayPal just announced a large increase in their fees starting I think in August. Good luck wanting to stay with PP and thinking they're a better way to handle your money.

Fortunately, by the end of this year PAYPAL IS HISTORY FOR EBAY SELLERS! ADJUST TO IT! Educate yourself and do what the vast majority of successful sellers here have already done - Accept > Adjust > Adapt.

If heels are so dug in that your business model cannot adapt to an extra 2-3 business days for your money to be transferred to your MP bank account, perhaps nothing we can say will help you.

When you use a cc at a store, the owner doesn't prevent you from taking your bottle of wine or carton of smokes with you for a couple days until he finally sees the money in his account, does he? And you adjusted to your employer's payroll model by waiting to be paid for a week or two, or even a month or more, right? You had no choice, so you adjusted. Same thing here, and we're only talking about 2-3 business days. You can do that.

Finally, it sounds like with your referring to Ebay as "Greedbay", your misunderstanding of the current reality is creating unnecessary anxiety and "forcing" you to look at other options. It's every seller's privilege to leave or stay. Just do yourself a favor and leave your options open to return here when you realize that the grass is NOT greener and sales are much lower at other venues. Some other sellers that have bolted have admitted that they were mistaken and decided to return.

Keep things in perspective and get some research done for better understanding of what's really going on. You can adjust just like the vast majority of successful Ebay sellers have already done. Good luck with your decisions and hopefully a change of outlook.

I will continue to buy items found on eBay but l'm thru selling on this site. l sold an item for $207.09 ( $171.50 + $22.04 shipping + $13.55 tax) gross. The actual shipping charge was $10.73 and when added to the tax $13.55, that's a total of $24.18 which should be subtracted from the total sale ($207.09). That leaves eBay with a net of $182.91 of which they sent $157.67 to me. Then, eBay sent me a notice that another $11.45 will be debited from my bank account. So, eBay kept $25.14 and now debits my account for another $11.45 for a total of $36.59. That ($36.59 / $207.09) comes out to a rate of 17.67 %. Therefore, l netted $146.22 from a $207.09 sale. l am having difficulty in making that come out to 12.55 %. Hope everybody is having a great day.

You're having difficulty because you aren't grasping the final value fee is on the total cost the buyer paid (item+s&h+sales tax), plus a $0.30 transaction fee. eBay handles the total payment and they make sure the proceeds go in the right pockets.

eBay also takes the payment for the label. The label cost is not an eBay fee.

If you think the fee is is on the item cost only no wonder you were surprised.

Even worse for me - 14.55% on my $975 books. Fees to me were $150! I had two other items listed (one was $4,000), but have now removed both of them from eBay. And - charging fees on sales tax seems to be illegal. I will NEVER list another item for sale here.

PayPal charged its fee on the sales tax and tossed in a 30-cent fee on each transaction. PayPal and ALL payment processors charge the final fee on the total sale -- merchandise, shipping, handling, sundry charges, and sales tax.

But if you want to see a class action lawsuit to challenge this universal practice, why don't you start one on your own dime? Consult a lawyer. When you do, be sure to show him the User Agreement you signed when you opened your eBay account.

They would be less boring if just once, just one time, someone said s/he was going to consult a lawyer about bringing a suit. All I ever see is: "Justice must be done! Someone should start a class action suit and let me get in on it!"

(All User Agreement issues aside, of course.)
