I am a seller on eBay for 2 years . I also use Poshmark and never ever had issues like with ebay . I sale luxury handbags like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel and trust me I make for eBay a lot of money. I sold Brend New LV Kirigami . My policy is no Return or Exchanges. Buyer open a case that the item is not as described because item was to SMALL! In the listing all the measurement where described. Can someone tell me WHY case was in favor of the buyer and he was able to return it ?
On top of everything this is not over ...
EBay authentication service supposed to protect you as a seller. This is eBay policy. When items are returning to the seller they go to ebay first to check if everything was the same . I also got email from ebay telling me that the item will go first to them for verification. And guess what ... it never did !
Buyer shipped it to me directly. Ebay did not do what supposed do ! Now when I opened this new kirigami the gold hardware has scratches!
Ebay just treat me horribly.
1. EBay allowed return item but Item was correctly described " measurements"
2. A lots shipped cost to the buyer and return label.
3. Item did not go to ebay authentication department for verification before I got the item back
4. Brand New item is damaged
This is horrible experience. I think about cancellations of my store. Focus on my website, Poshmark and Mercari.
Also ... brend new LV bag I sold around 2 months ago for $2.5k was delivered to the ebay authentication facility and was lost! They don't know what they did with it . They reimbursed the seller and I also got the money. Handbag was never found.
Be careful with ebay! And they authentication service. At first I was happy that finally it is some protection for sellers how sales high end stuff but I discovered that is totally not true!

This is quite odd. If your listing says "no returns" the case should not have been open as far as policy goes. Unless, of course, they changed the policy and didn't bother to tell anyone. There was a similar case posted today of a "no returns" item that involved the authenticator system as well. I did a bit of looking around for that poster, and you can see what I found out in post #15 here:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Beware-Ebay-s-quot-Authenticty-Guarentee-quot-service-does-not...
That seller has not been back to verify if the information she received was useful yet, but you may find it helpful. Let us know.

Upon confirmation of the item by the third-party authentication partner, it is properly packaged and securely shipped to the buyer. If the item's authenticity cannot be verified or the item is significantly not as described, the item is returned to the seller and a refund is issued.

Did you just sign on to ebay two seconds ago to post this cut and paste reply?

I don't really see this as an authntication problem. More of a buyer being unhappy and just using the INAD
"Buyer open a case that the item is not as described because item was to SMALL! "
No matter what was in your description the buyer will win, but you could appeal to eBay regarding the damage the item had sustained upon return.

I don't really see this as an authntication problem.
The problem appears to be with the protocol for the "authenticity guarantee" transaction in general. For these transactions (where the seller has selected NO RETURNS) the only MBG guarantee claims that can be made are INR or arrived damaged. The damage, or course, occurring on the final trip from the authenticator to the buyer.
Copied from the link I provided upthread:
https://pages.ebay.com/authenticity-guarantee-handbags-seller/
The applicable statement:
Can buyers return items purchased with Authenticity Guarantee?
Buyers can return an item if the seller accepts returns, as stated in the listing, and the return takes place within the seller's return window. If the seller does not accept returns or the buyer submits the return outside the return window, it will be a final sale and not eligible for returns.
AND this:
Applicability of eBay’s Money Back Guarantee (“eMBG”).
For authenticated items, eBay Money Back Guarantee only covers items that satisfy the eMBG eligibility requirements and are not received or that arrive damaged. Learn more about eBay Money Back Guarantee.
Granted, all this while I was under the impression that in these cases "no returns" selected on the part of the seller actually meant something and was upheld by this process. Considering it is eBay, perhaps I should have just known better.

Why aren't you deducting up to 50% from their refund because it was returned damaged or in worse condition?

I would never sell anything that is of high value on Ebay. Ebay is now a breeding ground for scammers and ebay does nothing to protect sellers. Everyday on this forum we read stories of scammers getting away with free handbags and iphones all courtesy of ebay. This platform is very broken. The management of ebay has no idea of how to run this company. They are very good at figuring out ways to squeeze more fees from its sellers but offer very little protection for its sellers. We can thank Devin Wenig for this mess as he really almost ran ebay into the ground before he left with 40 million dollars in his back pocket.

While I do sneakers for the eBay authentication service, it could be applied to luxury goods that you can reach out to eBay and seek some sort of compensation from them.
Now I'm not sure why it didn't go back to authentication center first before it gets returned to you so this could be some source of error you can tell them.
I would deal directly with the Twitter eBay Customer Service team in their DM's as they get things resolved quickly. I handle all my matters there @AskeBay

all sellers that use MP are subject to the auto accept returns policy
this has been around for at least a year

@fab_finds4u
I think the issue is a problem with WHY a seller (who has a NO returns listing) is liable for a return when the authenticator policy says otherwise. The buyer did NOT send back to the authenticator as required. If eBay is going to ignore the policies regarding authenticator transactions, there is no sense in them having the program at all.

Yes It is true. I have no return policy. Ebay made the decision for me . Item is damaged now.
11-11-2021 06:47 AM
It was my impression as well. I was hoping that we are now protected. It is not true
11-11-2021 06:48 AM
I could not . Ebay automatically refunded the seller everything
