Obviously ebay believes it is a good choice for selling, however some differences of opinion could exist.

It is good for some items and bad for others. It is good for some people and bad for others.
What are you selling?
Where are you located?
Are your prices competitive?
Do you already own the inventory?
What is your tolerance for risk?
How accurate will your listings be?
How good are your photography skills?
How much competition will you have?
What will your profit margins be?
How much experience do you have using eBay?
How are your customer service skills?
Do you have a business plan?

Good for me. Excellent seller hub, global presence, global exposure, well known to the public, option to list in US and UK at the same time, results listing in advanced search list from any country eBay is present, visitors (and sellers) on Ebay.com from around the world, shipping discount, label printing, big help with managing listing, promotions, 50 free listings.
Big minus: for more expensive items risky sale, crooks can open case and win after receiving item nd sending back brick
