EBay's Offer system doesn't process available quantity remaining properly

Just had a sale where the buyer accepted the offer and bought both items I had listed.  Noticed as I was preparing the package that EBay still listed one as available. Now I know why I've gotten sales when I was out of stock.

Usually, when an offer is sent to a buyer, from a seller, it is only for a quantity of one and that buyer can't change the quantity. It wouldn't be fair to a seller to have a buyer be able to buy 1,000 widgets at the special offer price.

On the other hand, a buyer can make an offer to a seller for multiple quantities.

I'm not sure I understand your exact situation involving two different(?) items in one offer.

You can select a quantity.

If you care to read my response rather than trying to play moderator, you will see that I wrote that a buyer can adjust the quantity. It's different when a seller sends out offers.

I have no interest or desire to "play moderator".

To be fair, you posted both so one sentence conflicted with the other.  I posted a Make and offer screen to resolve the conflict in statements.  Or so I thought.  You are correct, I did get confused by your post and did not absorb it correctly.  There is however no need to get rude.  We are adults here.

NO, I don't believe we have had this conversation.  But lets keep in mind that I have as much right to post on the threads as you do.  Because you may not agree with my posts doesn't matter.  And if we do have a difference in what we post doesn't mean I'm moderating anything.  But what it does mean is that I'm posting from my point of view.

If I were acting as a "moderator", I'd be editing your posts or removing them entirely.  I don't and haven't ever done that.

We do not have to agree on anything.  But I'm unsure why you feel you can post and I can't, especially if we don't see things the same way.

I am sorry I upset you.  That was never my intent.  As I said in my other post, I took what you said differently than you intended.  This happens sometimes on the board.  I'm sorry you took it personally.

If the buyer "accepted" the offer, that implies you "sent an offer" to that buyer.

correct?

Did you send the offer for "2"?

How did the sale evolve into 2 of the item.

If it went the route of buyer made offer for "2" of the item (as indicated above through the offer popup and buyer putting "2" in the quantity box) then there is a problem....

If you sent the offer and the buyer accepted, it could only have been for "1"....

How did you alter the offer for 2 to make sure the 2nd item was deducted from inventory?

Terapeak shows 2 sold at offer and based on the strike through price shown in search view, I'm assuming this is a buyer-initiated offer for a quantity of 2 (not a seller-initiated offer).

The out of stock setting isn't out of the realm of possibility (which would mean the listing stays live with a quantity of 0).

If OOS setting is turned on and OP manually ended the listing after the sale, we can see that

- the listing was ended with 0 quantity available (out of stock / 2 sold)

- the listing ended without a quantity revision since last October

so it doesn't appear the listing ever had a quantity of 3.

Did you see the listing active with a quantity of 1 available @colfaxstation or did you just see the listing active but not look at the quantity available? You can check here to see if your out of stock setting is turned on: https://www.ebay.com/uas/selling-pref

If the OOS setting is not turned then I'd venture a guess the listing showed on the active listings page because the process was delayed.

I've had situations where I open active listings to check stock on something and it shows 0 available before the buyer's order comes through because there's a delay - or the opposite where it shows a quantity available when I know the order that just came through was the last of my stock.

In those situations it's a system delay, however if a buyer tried to purchase during that time they wouldn't be able to because it was out of stock. (A buddy and I tested it.)

The listing showed an available quantity of one even after all stock had been sold.  I even went back on line and checked for the listing and it showed one available.  There was an offer sent, the buyer repied and I opened the listing to offers and the purchase was made.
