EBAY should split itself into two so it can have the New & Improved & the Original

It has become obvious to most of us sellers that eBay has made so many changes that no one recognizes it anymore.  I have a solution for you eBay.  Why not have eBay and eBay 2??  You could then have this new and improved eBay you are destroying the old 'tried and true' oiginal ebay for.  Everything would be brand new and shiny in your new one but the older one that everyone loved and still wants would be available also.  All your sellers could decide at the beginning which eBay they want to be a part of and your buyers wouldn't be confused either about which store had what.  Give us the older original with equal competition and visibility between sellers the way it was in the beginning without all the bells and whistles you are placing on the new one.  Just don't destroy the original eBay to make way for this 'new' image you have in mind that is not proven.  If you will just think about this, it really does make since.  Use your older software and stuff for the older eBay.  We sellers who will choose this eBay will live with it the way it was, and you can pour your money into this new fantasy/idea you have for everything new.  Surely you must know on some level that there is a place for the old eBay with all its vintage, antiques, one of a kind, used and never seen before kind of stuff it used to sell and still would if you would only take the time to show to your customers.  It would be a win, win situation for both you and the sellers.  Everyone would have what they want then.  You, more money with an exclusive new place with both eBay's up and running and the sellers who still want to be here that you are now trying to push out to make room for the new sellers.  There is room for both types of sellers if you would only think about it.  This is one of the best ideas anyone has given you in a long time and it was free.  You didn't have to pay me anything for this and maybe you should fire a few others who are paid way too much who couldn't come up with something so simple and doable.  Please consider this before you loose a goldmine of tried and true sellers who still are willing to be a part of moving you forward to the next level by bringing you back to your beginnings where you should be.  There is enough room for both types of eBay's so make it happen.  I will even offer my services to keep it going if you will just give it a try.  Please, please, consider what I have said, think about it, please.  And thank you for at least taking the time to read about one of the best recommendations you've been given some time.  I still love eBay and want it to succeed but not by destroying what it was.  There's a better way.

I doubt IT would be be an outstanding success unless, they FIX the shopping cart that didn't work back then and give the member proposed 2nd site longer than 4 quarters to gather traction.

And buyers don't know when ebay cuts exposure to sellers that have product they are looking for either.

As someone who sells, I can tell you I have searched ebay for my items using key words up to the complete title from an outside computer and they item would not show up in search results And if it did it was 6 pages deep with thousands of trash items from china dominating the 1st 5 pages. And the items did not even have one of the keywords used in some cases.

Search the main title keywords on google and it will be in the top 10. Search the exact title it's the top one.

Truth is many sellers do not take the time to search anonymously from outside locations that ebay doesn't have user account cookies on, and see how much exposure they really get.

My sales go in cycles. 10 days not any new watchers or sales, then a week of normal sales, then dead again, then a week of slow sales.

During that time my webite and my sales on Bonanza, Addoway, Etsy continue at normal paces.

If ebay is NOT throttling sellers and starving listings from viewer then ebay needs to have a really good explanation for the scenario above. Because if there was a drop in market it would show everywhere, not just on ebay listing.

And many other sellers are experiencing the same thing.

I know they. Sometimes the thoughts move faster than my fingers do and I just keep going. I also have to admit that after reading all the other sellers' post, without paragraphs, I found it easier to just skip them, my bad. I'll try to do better. I really didn't think anyone would notice and I apparently was wrong.

I do agree that the idea or something similar has been mentioned before but what I had in mind really is different than what the others have been. I guess I should have gone into more detail. Thanks for reading it just the same.

I'm very happy that you were able to find your Hot Cocoa Shower Gel. Unfortunately, too many other buyers/sellers have had the same problems that I've encountered. That's not to say that I didn't find what I wanted as I don't give up easily. What I said was that I would have to leave my eBay and use my browser which would show me an entirely different group of the same items, all listed on eBay, that eBay wouldn't allow me to see from my own eBay page using 'search'. Nor would it allow me to see them when I returned even though I had just looked at them from my browser. This is not good for eBay because I was also shown other listings of this same item/items at other sites. In all honesty, this has cost eBay sells, as quite often the other listings elsewhere would have better prices. Had I been able to access these same eBay listings from my own eBay, I wouldn't have left to search and would have been happy purchasing one that I had found and would have never known about the same items listed elsewhere. When you do a search for an item that you know eBay has at least 100 of, and you are only allowed to see 12, that is a problem. No matter how you try to change the search info, you still only get to see those same 12, and you know there are more, you get frustrated. This is the same problem others are having and that is what I was writing about. In all fairness, sometimes the search works...a little bit, like for what you were looking for.

For someone who has only been a member since 1/27/17, and has no items for sell, you sure have a lot to say about something you know nothing about. I do not feel my time would be served well responding to someone who thinks it's okay to insult the sellers of this fine place as you have. Why are you even here, let alone leaving posts???

But eBay has found a way. That is the whole point. All the buyers know about 'Buyers Protection' and how to use it. It is plastered all over the place and it can't be missed and any CS will tell them all about it and how to use it.

They also have 'Sellers Protection' but unfortunately, most sellers have no idea how to use it. You cannot access it by calling customer service, nor will they tell you about it let alone how to use it. You also will not see it everywhere, so how do you get this to the sellers? They come here and complain about how unfair everything is and that eBay all ways sides with the buyer. Truth is, they will side with the seller too but the sellers never give them the chance because they don't know how to go about doing it. That is really sad because some of these sellers have really lost big and that knowledge could have helped a lot of them if it had been easily found.

EBay did not split itself into. EBay Express was an extension of the same eBay. This is not what I was talking about doing. 2 separate places.

Thank you for stepping up and replying to some of these post. There's getting to be more here than I can keep up with. Like this one who has only been a member since 1/27/17 and has no items for sell but thinks it's okay to insult all the sellers here. I guess he didn't know this was a seller's forum. I just hate to give up on it. I know they are going to continue in the direction they are going and that needs to be acknowledged. So the only other thing we can hope for is for them to see the potential of 2 different eBays and give it a try. Hopefully if they do they won't let the same people that is running it now run the other one. Otherwise, it will just be a waste of time.

You're absolutely right, Ed. Why pay for a store when your listings are no longer being shown? The problem is way bigger than most think. For the sellers of vintage, used, antique and one of a kind, it is pretty much over. The new policy that takes affect in May is directly to benefit the 'new' item stores. If your items are not found in the catalog, your items will not be viewed, plain and simple. Of course eBay says they will eventually get those type items added into the catalog somehow, but that these changes are going to cost money. I think we all know what that means.

I urge all sellers to take the time to the 'Seller Center' and read every question they have given answers for. It will open your eyes as to why you have not had any sells and why you may not have any for a long time. If you have not updated your listings to catalog then you are going to miss out. This is important so take the time and read the updates taking place before it is too late. Some of you may want to just close shop and others will want to get busy fixing all their listings to be able to stay in business. Go! Read! Do it now! 🙂 Hope I didn't scare you. Does that not sound as though these will be last and until they are added these will not be found in 'search'?? These weren't the only ones so check it out. The 'Sellers Center'.
