I just sold an item, total with shipping was $375, and by the time I shipped it I paid close to $95 in fees.
After their markup my $375 sale increased to $406.50 that was subject to their fees.
From that I had to pay shipping cost.
What a rip-off!
As a home hobbyist it is difficult to offer good deals for things you want to sell.
EBAY now is charging sales taxes, and all shipping handling costs are subject to their fees.
There has to be a better place to sell your stuff.
I am not a business.

But they sure as hell multiply that sales tax in with thier 12.9% to make sure they get more money form it out of your pocket. That's bordering on criminal and i have forwarded that practice to the proper authorities.

This post is absolutely correct. eBay has been ratcheting up their fees for some time, with the understanding that they can and there is no alternative with the global exposure that they offer. Nonetheless, having $13.25% of the sales tax paid for an item I sold deducted from my net is a scam. I just sold a phone for $275 with free shipping. eBay took 13.25% of the $303 paid by the buyer, leaving me $234. That makes their effective rate 15%, not 13%. Deducting the fee for tax paid by the seller is another way to f*ck us out of another 2%. They ditched the convenience of paypal payout for the same reason; it was money left on the table. Didn't matter that is was more convenience and a better experience for the sellers. eBay's policy has generally ALWAYS been that sellers can eat sh*t. As long as there are buyers, there will always be sellers, so sellers are expendable.

I understand your frustration with the fees and expenses associated with selling on eBay as a hobbyist. It can be disheartening to see a significant portion of your sale going towards fees and other costs. While eBay provides a convenient platform for selling items, it's important to consider the expenses involved when determining the profitability of your sales.
One option you may want to explore is researching alternative platforms that cater specifically to hobbyist sellers. There are various online marketplaces available, each with its own fee structure and policies. It's worth taking the time to compare these platforms and find one that aligns better with your needs and expectations.
Additionally, you can consider other avenues for selling your items, such as local classifieds or social media platforms. These options may not have as many fees or expenses associated with them, although they may have different challenges and limitations.
Remember, as a hobbyist seller, it's essential to weigh the costs and benefits of selling on different platforms to ensure you're getting the most out of your sales. Good luck with your future selling endeavors!
