EBAY IS NO FUN ANYMORE

EBAY IS NO FUN ANYMORE. AFTER 18 YEARS IM REALIZING ITS NOT WHAT IT ONCE WAS AND ALL THE CHANGES HAS BECOME MORE AND MORE OF A HEADACHE, I STARTED SMALL AND BEGAN TO GROW AND HAD THE STORE SUBSCRIPTION BELOW THE HIGHEST ONLY TO HAVE EBAY WIPE ME OUT WITH AN UPDATE YEARS AGO SO I DOWNGRADED MY STORE AND NOW SELL WORTHLESS COLLECTABLES FOR A FEW DOLLARS. PEOPLE STILL COLLECT THINGS. I USED TO SELL EMBOSSING POWDER AND RARE MODELS AND THEN JUMPED INTO RARE CAR PARTS LIKE AXLES AND FENDERS ETC, UNTIL SHIPPING SKYROCKETED SO NOW I JUST SELL THINGS FOR A FEW DOLLARS JUST TO BE ABLE TO FUND MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT TO BUY A FEW THINGS HERE AND THERE. HARDLY WORTH IT, IVE SAVED THINGS FROM BEING THROWN AWAY, I WOULD BUY THINGS IN BULK FROM BUSINESS'S GOING OUT OF BUSINESS OR BUY OUT YARD SALES TO RESELL. IF I COULD MAKE A DOLLAR MORE THAN I PAID IT WAS WORTH IT TO ME. PEOPLE WERE HAPPY I WAS HANDING THEM CASH. I WAS HAVING FUN. I BOUGHT A LARGE 4 BEDROOM HOUSE IN A TOWN OF A 178 PEOPLE SO I COULD HAVE MORE ROOM. IM WAS AN AUTO TECHNICIAN WORKING FOR A DEALERSHIP BUT I ENJOYED FINDING STUFF SOMEONE WANTED.  I EXPERIMENTED WITH MANY THINGS. I NEVER KNEW WHAT I WOULD FIND TO SELL BUT IT WAS ENDLESS, THERE WAS ALWAYS SOMETHING. I TOOK MANY RISKS TOO. I STILL HAVE A LOT OF INVENTORY I HAVE SITTING AROUND THAT I KNOW PEOPLE WOULD WANT AND ACCESS TO A FULL WAREHOUSE WITH ALOT MORE BUT EBAY HAS MADE IT HARDER AND HARDER FOR ME TO FIND THE MOTIVATION ANYMORE, NOW THAT IM A LOT OLDER I FIND ITS TIME I WILL NEVER GET BACK, WHY SHOULD I BOTHER, EBAY IS NO FUN ANYMORE. ILL PROBABLY STICK AROUND AND KEEP A BASIC STORE AROUND SO I CAN FUND MY PAYPAL. I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE A CYLINDER HEAD FOR AN OLD TRUCK I GOT WITH MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT SO I'M WAITING FOR MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT TO FILL UP, BUT EBAY SURE KNOWS HOW TO FEE ME TO DEATH SO IT TAKES A LOT LONGER TO FUND IT. IM NOT IN A RUSH OR ID JUST BUY IT.

Sorry to hear it, but you reflect what many of us LONG TIME sellers are feeling. Big changes in eCommerce  happening around the world today and most people aren't paying attention. The internet is going the way of Main Street America all mega corporations and franchises no more mom and pop shops.

Good luck to ALL the small sellers out there!

So then keep your basic store or even go to no store at all. That way you can list at your own leisure and just relax and enjoy selling again !! That's what I do !! No store and list what I want when I want !! No hurries and no worries 😃!! I don't make a living selling on eBay !! I do it For Fun and Fun I Have 😂

Many of us have been here a long time and experienced the joy of Ebay - but all good things come to an end and like Popeye said - the changes in ecommerce are unbelievable but change happens.

I'm pulling the plug and taking SS early - so I'm concentrating on clearing out what I have now and then can go back to the fun of hunting for those special pieces to list here or elsewhere. Many of us crosspost elsewhere to make up for the decline in sales here.

ebay hasn't been "fun" (selling OR buying) for a long time now.
Reality is the leading cause of stress.

I used to have selling here, too.  Yesterday I passed on an item I would have purchased in a heartbeat a year ago.  My new mindset is winding down.  It makes me sad.

Policies & glitches take away from the fun & profit.

Can't survive on what was good but  now past and gone.

If you are like me, a small seller only trying to make some lunch money to supplement fixed social security income, Ebay is still fun.  Why just the other day I sold a widget I picked up for a very small sum at an estate sale last summer and it finally sold for $100 and that more than covered the cost of everything I have purchased at estate sales over the past year that did not sell and that I ended up donating to my favorite non-profit thrift shop.  But if you are trying to make a living here then you are going to need very good sources for product and have a highly efficient operation like the guy on YouTube who runs his operation out of a shed at his house.

Yes, the days are over for heavy item sellers. Shipping has skyrocketed and parts are so easily available from anywhere on the net. I never came to Ebay as just a fun place as I've always just used it just to buy and sell.

Bingo same here.. USPS Shipping is out of control and Fees are not worth it anymore. I have a lot of antiques also but will not put it on here either . Search engine for titles are very bad now example try to find 925 silver that is not plated good luck is all about advertising now. Did you ever try to tell ebay about a listing take you 10 minutes to figure it out and give up. Even when you get fill it out nothing get done about it anyway. I used to sell 50 items a week starting 99 Cents and every thing sold for a great price . Now it's below 5% bidding auctions and the starting prices of some are above what you want to pay. Nobody buyer are left to bid on objects so you know ebay is collapsing . Advertising is keeping them alive for now...

I 'm  starting  to think it's a conspiracy? wearing my tinfoil hat here. pay to play? but on the other hand? years ago the buyers were total fun? I would meet them, talk laugh giggle? what's wrong? it's a total Bore now. Altho I did just meet the nicest buyer. but it's been a long long time since I had that experience.  maybe years?
